Hello, Marantz radio users have surely noticed, internet radio has become paid, on the hi-fi system (me: MARANTZ M-CR603), it is no longer possible to listen to internet radio... On the hi-fi system's screen, it says to go to radiomarantz.com for more information, this site redirects us to the vTuner site which explains that this service has become paid and that from now on, we will have to pay 3 dollars per year to access the service.   My question is the following, IS THERE A FREE ALTERNATIVE TO VTUNER THAT WOULD WORK ON MY MARANTZ HI-FI SYSTEM???  Hoping for a reply, Thank you, Thomas

Yes, of course, I do the same with my laptop, which I connect to Vtuner that remains free (whereas with a Marantz device you have to pay $3 for full access, ....????) which obviously allows you to listen to any radio station for free by sending it via Bluetooth to the Marantz. Nevertheless, Marantz remains in illegality on one hand by continuing to sell devices that do not comply with the technical specification that promises free listening to thousands of radio stations, and on the other hand by resorting to planned obsolescence that makes it impossible to listen to free internet radios by making this feature paid, which would force users to turn to another brand to get a device that offers this same function for free. On my side, I am preparing a file that I will send to 60 million consumers to explain the facts and ask for their help in forcing Marantz to return to legality. I’m fed up with being held hostage by crooks...

The only serious way would be for Denon/Marantz to offer an alternative to Vtuner through an update like Yamaha did. I paid the 3 euros and it doesn't even work. Having multiple devices, I noticed that the Vtuner website interface no longer allows me to select the different devices. After contacting Vtuner, they seem completely overwhelmed to get their services working. The payment is processed quickly, though.

I find this process insidious, to say the least, as it reeks of a scam because we all bought our equipment honestly and the product manuals did not indicate that we would have to pay to access the internet radio service. Hello I own a Marantz NR1606 and I'm experiencing the same issue. I am a HiFi technician and I have several clients who are in the same situation as us. I contacted Denon/Marantz today, but there is no solution for the "old models" like ours; no updates are in sight, but they assured me they are working on it. The problem is not related to the Denon/Marantz brands as I have read, but to vTuner. All brands using vTuner for internet radios are being held hostage like us. I had 3 Denon/Marantz devices and I had to pay 3 dollars per device to create 3 Vtuner accounts, only to end up with a bug on the Vtuner interface. Indeed, if I entered a station on the Vtuner website, it was not saved on my MCR. no more radio for me either on my Marantz RC013CR bought specifically to listen to the radio! I wrote to Marantz a month ago but despite their promise to respond, they remain silent!  If there's a petition to sign, I'm in!  I worked around the problem by buying a cable with 2 female RCA jacks and a jack plug; all connected to my PC and the 2 audio outputs of my system. The sound is not great but listenable, especially in ambiance mode.  Cable around 6 euros.

Many people are complaining about Marantz (Denon) no longer providing a feature for their products. Not only do you have to pay $3 to vTuner, but now vTuner is no longer working with Marantz, and it's a dead end for internet radios. I know this all too well... An Airplay box (actually it's called an Airplay but I call it a box!) is a small device that allows you to stream sound or videos to the device you connect it to (like Google's Chromecast). Hello, I also checked my MCR-611 this morning: it's a bit of a mess, I can still find the web radio I listened to last yesterday before shutting down. However, the display is all over the place, it also seems that I can save it to favorites, BUT when I press "call" (on the remote) to retrieve them, nothing happens, the quality indicator remains at 0%. Hello, I'm just adding another stone to the building of those disappointed by Marantz/Denon/Yamaha and others.  I have a SR7008 and a NA6005 = the same punishment as all of you :(  I wrote to Marantz and even referred to their "shitty" communiqué that says to go pay and go screw yourself......, as you might have understood.  Marantz is (was today) a brand that I've cherished for several decades but now the divorce is final, moreover as a member of other forums related to this type of hobby, I will not hesitate to give them the bad publicity they deserve, unless Denon/Marantz quickly revises their behavior.  I also own a Marantz CD6005 and a PM8005, so 4 Marantz devices and it is obvious that these will be replaced by a brand or brands that respect their customers. Hello everyone,  I also have a problem with a Marantz. I just spoke with Marantz's headquarters in the Netherlands. They are defending themselves by saying that it is stated in the manual that the radio is provided by external software. So they are not responsible. As for the notion of false advertising (what is written in the advertisements in stores, what is indicated on the box, or who has access to the manual before buying a product!!!), they don't want to hear about it. Their new devices work, they say, with HOS. But it is not possible to install it on devices that operated with V-Tune. This morning, I almost got upset once again... then miraculously, I managed to find the web radio. The app is still in a coma ( alcoholic?????), scandalous.  When I go to "internet radio" at the top on the remote, then I have a menu that allows me to re-select what I want (in order: continent -> country -> genre -> the list appears there). I went back through this path, and oh miracle, I was even able to add it to my favorites (remote: ADD). Maybe I got lucky? I keep pushing Marantz, who dares to respond with things like "you are misunderstanding." Well, of course. What a shame. I sent a message to the CSA (on their website) telling them that I pay the audiovisual contribution and that it is unacceptable to no longer receive, at the very least, the radio stations from Radio France... I asked them if there was a possibility, then, to see my TV license fee reduced. In the meantime (maybe one day...) a response...  I have also delved into another avenue, towards the CSA, by opening a breach (through the radio stations from Radio France).  For your information, I signed the online petition.

If you scroll down the page to its features (by clicking on "network," then "Internet radio"), it seems that this device uses the "TuneIn" platform (?).
By typing this name into Google, it appears that this platform offers free radio content...

At the bottom of the page, it states that there is free content (100,000 free stations) and paid content (€8.69/month) for PC/smartphone versions.

So, we can hope that a new update is planned... And that this won't only concern the recent devices.
If that's the case, I hope they will take into account ALL devices, even those that are no longer marketed and that received internet radio...

Hello everyone, Like all of you, I was faced with the issue of vtuner becoming a paid service, charging $3 (per year) to listen to what is free on the internet, which I find simply outrageous.  So, I searched and found a simple way to bypass the problem. If, like me, your amplifier is connected to a local network that includes a PC (or Mac) and a box, then the solution is clearly to use iTunes.  iTunes allows you to stream sound from your PC to the amplifier connected via the "Select the speakers to use" icon.  Then you just need to create your own playlists either by picking from the list of internet radio stations offered for free by iTunes or following this YouTube tutorial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DMdoFA64RQI) which explains how to record internet radio stations not listed by iTunes.  Enjoy listening to all your favorite radio stations without getting ripped off.

An effective solution (and better than vtuner) is to use the VRadio app on an Android smartphone (see the page http://www.akouradio.com/) It offers a wide selection of webradios that can be easily cast via DLNA to the M-CR611 connected to the home network. Once the broadcast is underway on the Marantz, it is easy to save the stream to favorites with the Add button. After turning off the M-CR611 and turning it back on, it may be necessary to go through Music Server before the streaming favorites become operational.

Another solution (in addition to the one proposed in answer 23): Create an m3u file for each web radio, place these files on your internet box, on which you activate the multimedia sharing service (dlna, upnp).  The m3u files can be obtained from http://www.radio-browser.info Once you find the radio, the site offers to download the playlist: “Save current list as playlist for your media player: PLS M3U XSPF” The M3U is clickable and offers to download the playlist file. You should name the m3u files explicitly in relation to the radio they contain: that’s the only information that will appear on the HiFi system.  Once sharing is active and the m3u files are present on the box: On the HiFi system, go to Music Server. The multimedia location of the box should be proposed. By navigating within it, you can find the m3u files. Selecting one will start playing the web radio. You can then add it to your favorites. Favorites work as long as sharing on the box is active and the m3u files are present.

Hello, Yes, I confirm that it is impossible for me to access not only vTuner but also the web in general. However, the M-CR611 is perfectly connected and recognized on my network. Furthermore, the communication with an iPod via USB is not stable, and I sometimes need to unplug/replug the amplifier from the power supply for the connection to be established. Like everyone else, I am being held hostage by vtuner with the complicity of Marantz, with my M-CR611. This means I can listen to my favorites, but I can no longer search for new stations.
