A white star has appeared in the upper right corner of the screen following a download that consumed all available space. Please help me.

check:
disable the "ring only if it's a favorite contact" feature
or
switching to priority mode.
or
go to phone settings --> My device --> Sounds and notifications --> Interruptions then in "Upon receiving calls and notifications" choose "Allow interruptions"

It's definitely related to the volume. Depending on the notification choices we make (priority or other), there's a small star or a crossed-out circle at the bottom of the hand
anyway, a quick Google search will help you remove it
