Good evening,
By taking a VPS at 2.99 / month, Linux system, with an internet speed of 3 Mb currently, how much can I expect from this server?

    good question :)
Have you taken the time to look around a bit anyway?
    https://www.google.com/search?q=vps&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b
    ... for example ...
It all depends on what you need, it all depends on what you're looking for, it all depends on what you require, in other words, you will, you can "claim" what is offered in the plan you "subscribe" to ... we can't both choose and pay for you :)
    also see this:
    https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serveur_d%C3%A9di%C3%A9_virtuel for the 'basics'

the 'www' is also made for communicating, sharing, and exchanging, right? Thank you for being polite enough to respond to those who are trying to help you :)

      Hello,
This would mainly be to have more internet speed while browsing, as well as more anonymity with a VPS!

      "More internet speed while browsing"?

      And anonymity?

What does that have to do with a VPS?

A Virtual Private Server (VPS) is used to have a machine (virtualized on a physical host) in a data center to run applications continuously, for example. (Hosting mail servers, websites, etc.).

I don't see the connection with anonymity and internet speed while browsing... Sorry, but we're not in your head to understand what only you seem to understand here...

Well, by using a dedicated server, we take its IP address, I believe, as well as the internet bandwidth it offers, probably in different proportions... hence my question?

I still don't see the connection with anonymity or speed...

Your connection won't be faster or more anonymous for the authorities; the intermediaries will still know who arrives from where and accesses what...

How do you plan to use your dedicated server? Through a VPN?

Note, a VPS is not a dedicated server; it's a virtual server sharing the capabilities of a dedicated server among several virtual machines.

      Before asking such questions, try:
      - to use the exact terms.
      - to inform yourself about VPS vs VPN
      - to forget about issues of speed or anonymity
      :)

    'Hi,
if I understand correctly, you want to rent a VPS and route your traffic through a VPN via that server.
Know that as Judge_DT said, you won't be any more anonymous, to a certain extent.
As for the bandwidth, you cannot exceed the maximum speed of your line; it is physically and technically impossible; given the speed you have, you probably have an xDSL line, and the poor copper telephone lines have a maximum speed that is not very high, and even then, the DSLAM has to communicate with your router at the maximum speed, which is rarely the case. Going through a VPS/VPN in the meantime will only add latency and (slightly) reduce the bandwidth.
