Hello, I need a little help to remove the startup message that says: "press enter to interrupt normal startup." You might ask how this is bothersome; it just takes a lot of time to boot up since the message appears (P.S.: I have a Lenovo T440s running Windows 10).

    Good evening,
This type of message is normal at startup. By pressing "Enter" you will enter the BIOS. I don't think the slow startup is related to this message.

Do you have a lot of programs launching at startup? That might be the cause.

It could also be a hard drive issue, which is quite common on laptops. A test with CrystalDiskInfo can help eliminate doubts.

Yes, but before it didn't do this to me... before there was no BIOS either and everything was fast...

How long do you see the message "Press enter to interrupt normal setup"?
More generally, at what point during startup does the PC seem to take a long time?

About 15 seconds after pressing the on button.

It's true that 15 seconds feels long on this screen. Usually, it's more like 3 seconds. Maybe the computer is trying to figure out what to boot from.
In the BIOS settings, you need to check that the hard drive with Windows is set as the first boot option. If a USB stick, external hard drive, or SD card is plugged in, it needs to be unplugged.

If none of that works, it might be that the hard drive isn't functioning properly. As I mentioned earlier, you should check with CrystalDiskInfo.

    Hello and thank you,
I know the post is a bit old but I managed to solve the same problem today, if that can help.
You need to make sure there is no USB plugged in. For me, it was a webcam that was blocking the startup...

Thank you so much for the post update! I bought a wireless controller and plugged the dongle into the PC and I didn't even make the connection!

You've saved me; I almost thought I didn't have a PC anymore because even the keyboard wasn't responding...

      Thanks again!!

      You saved my life.

For me, it was my phone that was plugged into the PC via cable, which was blocking the startup.

Hello, thanks for the help indeed! For my part, it was a wireless mouse that was blocking the startup. Thanks a thousand times again ????

or more simply, go check if fast startup is enabled in the power options,
if it is not, enable it and see the difference, I have already had this problem on a few machines running W10

    Hi,

Reset the BIOS settings to default: https://www.malekal.com/reinitialiser-parametres-bios-defaut/
    This should remove the message.

        Is it a Lenovo?

Make sure the HDD is first in the boot order.
Set "Option Key Display" to Disable.
Save the changes and exit the BIOS.
