Hello,
I’ve been stuck in a vicious cycle with my computer for two days. I had to restart my computer to install a Windows update, and since then, a blue screen with the message “Your computer has encountered a problem and needs to restart. We are simply collecting error information, and then we will restart your computer” appears. At the bottom, it indicates that the error is “process1 initialization failed.” Restarting leads to the same procedure, and it automatically brings me back to the “Repair” options.

I can't access my account. I tried using the F12 key to access administrative commands, but it seems I don't have an administrator account! As a result, I keep getting sent back to the same process.
Can you help me? I've been struggling for a long time... Thank you!

Hi,

This could be due to hardware issues, such as a hard drive problem.
Checking the hard drive with a Live CD Ubuntu would be a good idea: https://www.malekal.com/tester-diagnostic-materiel-ordinateur-live-usb-ubuntu/

Otherwise, you need to proceed with a factory reset.

Thank you, but I can't perform those maneuvers without access to the computer. Would a factory reset delete all my files? That's what I would like to avoid! How can I work around the BSOD?

If the repair doesn't work, you will have to reinstall Windows.
But here too, you need a functional computer to create an installation medium.
It's also useless if the hard drive is damaged.

Reinstall Windows 10 without formatting:

Follow this tutorial that explains how to install Windows 10: how to install Windows 10.
All the steps are provided from A to Z with tips at the end to secure Windows 10.

The steps are essentially:

- Download the Windows 10 installation ISO: https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows10 (other download methods: https://www.malekal.com/telecharger-iso-windows/ ).
- Create the installation medium with Media Creation Tool
- Boot from it by modifying the boot sequence and selecting the USB stick or DVD: How to boot the computer from USB stick
If the USB stick doesn't work, try making another one with Rufus: how to download Rufus - see this tutorial for details: how to create a Windows installation USB stick
- Let yourself be guided to install Windows 10.
- Choose customize (not upgrade)
- During the partition phase, select the main partition and click next.
- The installer will inform you that Windows is already present and suggest moving it.
- Follow the Windows installation procedure using the tutorial above.

Above all, do not format.

Your user data will be copied into a subfolder of C.

Once Windows is installed, I recommend following these tips to properly configure and use Windows: Tips after reinstalling Windows.
