Hello,
I have the same observation since yesterday on Windows 10.
The "new tab" page no longer displays but opens on "Chrome://newtab".
Impossible to remove it.
Adwcleaner detects nothing.
Malwarebytes detects nothing.
The antivirus detects nothing.
The shortcut properties are normal (no address at the end of the line).
I have no suspicious extensions.
Resetting Chrome doesn't change anything.
Uninstalling and reinstalling doesn't change anything either.
However:
In safe mode, my pages are correctly titled "new tab."
I re-scanned in safe mode, and no malware was detected.
On the other hand, it only takes refreshing the page to correctly rename the tab "Chrome://newtab" to "new tab."
I don't know what to do either.
Chrome is up to date.
