How to hear your microphone Solved/Closed

Question

Here it is,

I wanted to prepare a party at my place (I have a mini turntable and speakers) and I would like to make comments using my microphone that I connect to my PC. I can record the sound but I want to do "Live" on my laptop.

My PC is an HP Pavilion dv9000 with Windows Vista Home Premium Edition.

How can I do this, please?

If there is a solution, I found it, just follow these steps:
- Control Panel
- Set it to classic view
- Go to Sound
- In the Playback tab, click once on your speakers
- Then click on Properties at the bottom right
- Next, go to the LEVELS tab and uncheck the mute option for the microphone; this will enable the sound from your microphone through the speakers ^^

double click on the speaker icon (next to your clock on the taskbar), then options, properties, check that "Playback" is checked, and at the bottom check Microphone, then OK. Your Micro volume then appears, check that it is not muted.    -- Floÿ Think less, work more!

I have the same problem.
I can't set up the audio manager to get the microphone output through the speakers.
I was able to do it on XP but not on Vista.
In the microphone configuration of the audio manager, the microphone is well configured with the volume at 100%.

The only button that could resemble the speaker option in silent mode is indeed activated
that is to say in the sound window> recording> properties option front mic> levels

I forgot to mention that through the voice recorder application, I was able to verify that the PC was indeed receiving sound.

And there you go, I just got the bad news, I went to a computer store today and I explained my problem with the audio coming from my speakers... I didn't even have time to finish my sentence before he cut me off and said, "Don't look any further, you're not the first to ask, we've looked into it and it turns out it's a bug in Windows Vista... But apparently, they should fix this issue with the SP1 for Vista..." So there you have it, don't look any further, there's no solution ;)

1- Click on the speaker icon at the bottom right, then right-click on "Sound"
2- Tab "Recording": make sure the level fluctuates when you speak into the microphone
3 - Switch to the "Playback" tab and click on the speakers
4- Click on speaker properties, then on the "Levels" tab....
5- You’re there, but it’s not visible: you scroll down the menu until you see "front pink in" or "rear pink in" ... you enable it and raise the slider!

It's true that this IS A REAL TRASH Vista! I also do DJing as a hobby and I can't hear a single sound of my voice!! But what is this nonsense???? There's no mute checkbox like there was in 98 or XP? If this continues, there won't be any microphone in future Windows!

I followed Audrey's instructions to the letter but I keep getting this...
all values at 100, same for all other peripherals, the microphone works well but no feedback :(

Hello everyone.

The thing is to open the connectors. To respond to you, Calimerwin, I found it in the playback properties: it lists the possible connections on the front and back (for surround). I found the activation of the "front in" by unfolding a list that wasn't obvious to see, still in the same tab.

For Nekosan, that's indeed where I found it. However, I don't get what you do (no need to click on the balance): as I wrote above, I have the list of physical audio inputs. By unfolding this list, I activated my "front in" connector. I don't see this list in your image, strange...

The worst part is that I had looked for this thing a while back and ended up frustrated because I didn't have the microphone option in the audio output......

Damn, they're really annoying over at Crosoft. It's been 10 years since this has existed, and now they release a new OS, prettier but SUPER resource-hungry with crappy features and no microphone feedback 0.0
(personally... I've disabled all file indexing on all my hard drives.... same for the user account control system [even though I wanted to configure it case by case... but no, you either enable it or disable it.... -_-] and so many other things.......).

I would also like to thank Audrey for her help; I am also on Vista, on a Toshiba Satellite laptop.
I didn't have any feedback from the microphone (external, karaoke style) in the speakers. I followed Audrey's advice, and it works!!!

There is no way back under Vista according to Mr. Toshiba.
I tinkered with all possible settings in "SOUND" but nothing worked!
By chance, I stumbled upon a solution. While I was watching Canal
with my Hauppauge WinTV modem, which only works
when its "output out" is connected to the PC's microphone jack;
of course, I’m addressing those who have the same type of equipment
as mine here. I left the modem running under the famous MeuhMeuhTV
WITHOUT an antenna input and WITHOUT an Audio Out, so only the USB key plugged in! I plugged my microphone into the designated input on my PC and miracle, I heard my voice in my PC speakers.
As a result, I connected the headphone output of my radio set to the same jack and recorded my favorite tunes while listening to them. Awesome.
I think the modem through its USB key "forces" the speaker output.
PS: a test with Pinnacle, the competitor, doesn’t work.

An important detail, depending on the Vista versions and machines, the settings screens are very different!
For example, to respond to Audrey in "properties" of the "speaker" I don’t have the "microphone" icon
on my Toshiba Vista, so there’s no way to uncheck "mute" like hers.

No one has found the answer then?  Indeed, on some computers it's possible and on others it's not. For example, on mine (HP dv 9000) it's impossible, neither in Windows nor in the Realtek audio manager, yet I have a friend (on an Acer) who can adjust the playback volume in his Realtek audio manager, he just has an additional line above the recording volume, which I didn't look for the error ...  For those who really want sound on the speakers, there's a solution for €10: buy a USB sound card (2.1), which will allow you to have two audio outputs at the same time (one for headphones and one for speakers with different sounds), very useful for DJs.

It's really a pain that we can also have such difficulty listening to the microphone; fortunately, in Seven, we can do it very simply, as a new tab is present in the microphone properties and allows us to listen to the microphone through the sound card of our choice by checking a box.

Here's the solution on my HP laptop!

Here’s the option to enable: Speaker at the bottom near the clock: right-click > playback device > right-click on speaker > then properties

In levels, you might find the microphone to enable. So if the option isn't there like me, you'll need to enable it via the registry.

Press Windows key + R and type Regedit then launch a search for "disablemicinfromrender" once found you should set the value to 00 instead of 01. Then restart the PC and finally the microphone option appears in the menus previously explained!!!

I hope my method will help some since I couldn't find the solution on the forums. So I had to look for it myself.

Finally, a solution that seems to be on the right track because I have an HP Pavilion dv9000 and all the solutions that have been proposed do not work for me. The only problem is that I can't find "disablemicinfromrender" in my registry when I run my search...
Maybe you made a mistake in the word, which I doubt, or the name is different on my end...
Could you give me the path to find it or maybe even to create it if it doesn't exist?

(I’ll keep what I think about Vista to myself. Indeed, what hen would need a microphone? Doesn't Windows Media Player suffice for everyone? Amen)

Hello,  I don't know if this is still relevant, but I also had a problem and I solved it like this: 1 - Open the control panel, 2 - Click on "sound" 3 - In the playback tab, make sure "Speaker" is selected, then click on it once 4 - Then click the "properties" button at the bottom right 5 - Go to the "levels" tab, set everything to 100 (we're crazy with all the sliders) and check that the little speaker buttons don't have the "forbidden" symbol. If they do, click on them once, then click "ok" to close the properties window. 6 - Then go to the recording tab 7 - Click once on "microphone" and press the "set default" button at the bottom right. Normally if you speak into the mic, the gauge should fluctuate.  If you still don't have sound, don't panic, it's normal: 8 - Then click the "properties" button (always having selected "microphone" beforehand) 9 - In this window go to the "customize" tab 10 - Then check the "monitoring" box.. and there.. the miracle happens. You should hear your own voice. 11 - Don't forget to click OK  There you go. I hope this will be useful for some.

GREAT SOLUTION FOR THOSE WHO CAN'T SEE THE MICROPHONE!!! Finally, it worked for me. With Windows 7, go to CONTROL PANEL, then SOUND, then RECORDING (yes, I know, wait) Select the mic then PROPERTIES. Go to the LISTEN tab. Check the box LISTEN TO THIS DEVICE and APPLY at the bottom right. You should hear your mic and it works at the same time as YouTube, so hooray for karaoke. PS: At the stage of selecting your mic, speak into it first to see the volume bar go up and make sure the problem isn't before this stage. Found by chance Happy New Year 2017 everyone!
