Excel: the Design tab (Table Tools) is missing!

Hello,
I want to automatically format a table in Excel, but the Table Tools - Design tab does not appear. I found it in another Excel file created by a former colleague. It is located to the right of the View tab, but I can't get it in the new Excel files I create.
Help!

See this to create your table and then when you click on your table the Table Tools and Design menu will appear in the ribbon:
