Sort a table of contents in alphabetical order

I wanted to create an automatic table of contents with Word. But I can't sort it alphabetically. When I try, I'm told that the field cannot be sorted....
Is there a solution?

    Hello,

    Indeed, you can't sort a field.

    Therefore, the solution is to convert this field into normal text, and then you can sort it normally (after taking the table out of the content control).

    Obviously, the table will no longer be able to update.
