Hello,

I will explain my problem:
First of all, as I no longer have a hard drive because the old one has failed (the old one was a Windows 7)
I took the hard drive from an old eMachine to put into mine, and I also took the activation key for Windows 7 Starter.
But for about a month of use, it has been asking me for the activation key, another problem is that the key is too short.
Mine is 003*2-OE*-899*752-30*04 (Starter)
The computer that received the hard drive -> 2K*24-GV*79-PF*QC-7R*H2-RO*H8
(Windows 7 Premium)
So I am completely stuck because I don't know what to do, when I enter the above key for Windows Starter it refuses to accept the characters...
And when I put in the one for Windows 7 Premium -> This version of Windows 7 does not match your current version.
If someone would be kind enough to help me.
(I specify: My current computer is equipped with the eMachines Windows 7 Starter hard drive while it is an HP 625, but before I had a version of Windows 7 Premium)

Best regards,
MxL

I think that since your key for Windows 7 Starter has already been used, it is not possible to reuse it, and of course, you can't exchange keys between different versions of Windows, as they correspond to a single version.

I can suggest an alternative, which is not legal if you do not own a Windows license, but it seems to be fine for you :)

Use Windows Loader and WAT Remover, it will activate Windows without a key:

https://ww1.free-telecharger.org/fiche-1342/Windows%20Loader%202.1.7%20+%20WAT%20Remover%202.2.6%20%5B7+Vista+Server%5D%20DAZ.html

Of course, I am not responsible in case of any problems.

Thank you for your reply.
Don't worry, the only one responsible is the one who acts and not the one who dictates :)

I prefer to give a heads up, even if it seems absurd, but you never know, I’d rather avoid problems.

Hello,

I did it on an EEEPc by taking the key from the W7 starter sticker on the PC originally equipped with Starter (for you, the Emachine) and reinstalling Starter from a complete W7 DVD (which contains all versions including Starter as indicated here:

http://forums.cnetfrance.fr/topic/170865-creer-un-dvd-de-windows-7-bootable-universel/

and I didn't have any activation issues but I did have to reinstall all the updates and other software....

It's doable without difficulties.

But anyway, it's planned, I'm going to have Windows 7 on a 1TB Disk.
So I think I can stay like this for a week (but the annoying thing is that as soon as the message "confirm Windows key..." appears, it makes me exit the games and I have to switch windows with Alt + Tab since I can't see my pointer in the game.
Thank you for advising and helping me.

Best regards,
MxL
