Simple Timer in Excel

Question

Hello everyone,

I need to time a race on Saturday and I would like to use a stopwatch in Excel.

I don't master VBA and everything I found is quite complex (there should be a simple one on this forum posted by eriiic, but the link attached is no longer valid)... I'm looking for a stopwatch that is quite simple.

Here’s what I would like:
- A "start" button
- The stopwatch running in B2 (so I can make sure it's working)
- A "time" button that I will click each time a competitor passes the line and that will display the competitor's time in B5, B6, B7, B8, B8... (according to the order of finish)
- A reset button for the stopwatch (that would also clear the times already displayed on the page)
- A stop button for the stopwatch

If anyone can give me a hand it would be really great.

Hello,  Thank you for this initial response, but I don't understand at all how this file works... I don't see how to start the timer and how to display the athletes' times.

The only issue: I have several races to time and I was thinking of making several tabs in my Excel workbook (one for each race) but when I copy the sheet, the macros don't work in the new page.
Is there a way to fix this or do I have to create a separate file for each race??

I'm not very skilled in VBA and I submitted Éric's file because I had it on hand, but you can still try
in the chrono sheet
Right-click on the tab name and "view code"
copy all the code displayed in the window
to your other sheet
same operation to display the VBA window and paste everything.
In principle, the macro applies only to the sheet

I tried to copy the VBA code from the "chrono" page to the new page (chrono 2) but the code was already written. I don't really see why it's not working...

It probably doesn't work because you probably need to specify the buttons, give each sheet a name, and modify the macro accordingly.
This work is not within my skill set!
If you want to try, with no guarantee of success, create a copy of the sheet.
*Developer tab:
*Copy of the sheet, rename
*Developer tab/icon create to release the buttons
For each button: right click/properties
Rename the buttons;
Take the macro from each sheet, placing the names of the buttons.
But it's a bit random, I guarantee nothing, and I wish you to find a specialist to validate all this
