Missing "add attachment" icon in Mozilla Thunderbird

Hello,
I think I made a mistake because when I want to attach a file to the messages I send, I can’t find any icon that allows me to add one, no matter how hard I look.
Thank you in advance for your help!

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 17.0

    Hi, it's the "attach" button if it's not available
    check that you have the mail toolbar checked
    otherwise File menu > "attach"

      Thank you for your response, but yes, the mail toolbar is checked, but the send button has also disappeared. I still managed to find a keyboard shortcut, but not for attachments.
