Hello everyone,
I have a big problem, I've read hundreds of forums, and even though this is a rather common issue, I haven't found a solution. When I launch The Sims 3, everything works normally until the loading bar (just after the intro) gets stuck. The loading doesn’t even start, and I can wait for hours without anything moving. In the forums I've read, one solution came up several times: uninstalling and then reinstalling the game. However, I have a lot of families that I would like to keep, so I don't want to do that. I have several expansion packs (the last one I got was Showtime, but I've played since then and it was working just fine). I can’t remember if it started to bug just after I installed a patch, but I think so. My game version is 12.0.273.017001 and the launcher tells me that my game is up to date.
Please, I need your help! I hope I was clear and provided enough information.
Thank you very much in advance :)
PS: This isn't the first time I play. I've played many times before..
PSS: I have a laptop, HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, with Windows 7 Home Premium (Service Pack 1), 64-bit, and 4.00 GB of RAM.

Good evening,
I had the same problem, and for me, it was resolved like this:
Right-click on the "SIMS 3" shortcut, then "Properties".
In the "Compatibility" tab, check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)".
Apply, OK.
Restart the game and everything should work fine.
Have a nice evening!-

Hello, I have a problem like this except mine is the second loading (the one with the long-term happiness game). At first, the game was freezing and I could wait hours and hours, so I thought that removing it might work, but that's not the case. I decided to try your solution; maybe it will work even if it’s not the same loading that is freezing. At the last step where we select "Windows XP (Service Pack 3)", I don’t have that choice; I can only choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or Windows XP (Service Pack 1)". Can I choose "Windows XP (Service Pack 2) or Pack 1"?
Thanks in advance if you find the solution! -

Unfortunately, we will have to attempt a complete reinstallation! :/

Yeah, I'm starting to think that too... But I'm still waiting a bit to see if others have solutions... But thanks for your help anyway :)
