Keyboard with or without a numeric keypad

Hello, since netbooks do not have a numeric keypad, when I use the USB keyboard from my 17" PC, the numeric keypad is useless. Indeed, if I type a sentence containing numbers, the mouse pointer returns to the beginning of the sentence. I suppose this is normal since the original netbook keyboard does not have a numeric keypad?
I'm asking this question because I want to buy a mini keyboard for the netbook, and it seems pointless to get a keyboard with a numeric keypad if it doesn't work?
Is my reasoning logical or... silly?

Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 9.0

Hello,
To activate the numeric keypad, you need to turn it on by pressing "Num Lock." A LED lights up right above it.

Thank you for the quick response. In fact, since the keyboard is permanently connected to the other 17" PC, I hadn't thought that I needed to use the Num Lock key to connect it to the netbook (I thought it was always on, but I was wrong). In any case, it works!
P.S.: Since this netbook has only 1GB of RAM, is it worth upgrading it to 2GB? What will I gain from it, knowing that Windows Starter does not support 4GB? Thank you for your opinion.

Personally, netbooks of this kind do not support upgrades. If you go from 1GB to 2GB of RAM, it will be the processor that may struggle to keep up, and you won't notice any difference. Now, operating systems are increasingly drawing their resources from the graphics chipset, so if you want to upgrade this type of machine, you have to change everything. In short, I don’t think it’s worth it.

Thank you for confirming my doubts. I’m thinking of giving this one to my mother or reselling it (it’s under warranty until mid-November) and buying an ASUS 1225 with 4GB.
I had considered upgrading to Home Premium and then adding 4GB, but I abandoned that idea!
Thank you for your advice. Best regards.
