Question

Hello,
I just bought the football manager 2012 games that run with steam
The problem I have is that once I download steam, when I click on it, it shows me the following error message:
"steam needs to be online to update. please confirm your network connection and try again"
so I can't install the game
if someone could help me, thank you.

Hello everyone
There is one last solution: Steam doesn't like proxies, so make sure to check that.
Some software (anonymizers) configure your internet connection with a proxy
so check Internet Explorer (even if you're surfing with Firefox)... in summary, open Internet Explorer/internet options/connections/network settings... and uncheck the proxy server, then check "automatically detect settings."

Hello,  Steam is telling you that it needs to connect to the Internet.  Check that your firewall is not blocking it.

Yes, I checked my firewall and it doesn't block steam. I even disabled it to be absolutely sure. I still get the same error message.

I found out how to do it. I had to copy the application from the Steam folder into my applications after I ejected that folder, then it launched. Thanks for your help.

Good evening, I have a small problem. I was able to play quietly with Steam when I downloaded it, but it did an update and now it indicates that I need to be connected to the internet to be able to log in to Steam.

Even though I am connected, I have disabled my firewall, I have uninstalled and reinstalled it, and I have deleted all the Steam files except for Steam.exe and Steamapps, but nothing works. I contacted Steam support, but I can't find a solution.

So I am turning to you to find a better solution to the problem. I would be grateful, thank you.

Stupid tip but I admit it worked for me too.
Copy the entire steam folder... apparently anywhere (I put it on the desktop).

Restart steam.exe (the one where you want to install your folder, not in the copy you just made!).

The update went smoothly for me afterwards.

Do not use anything that could damage Steam, do not erase anything. This "bug" from Steam is perfectly normal. To make this message disappear, you need to launch steam.exe until the loading finishes without this blocking message. Restart Steam until this message no longer appears. ;)

Hello, having the same problem as you, I tried to reinstall Steam. I think the issue comes from the site where you downloaded Steam, so go to this site and everything should work perfectly: http://store.steampowered.com/about/?snr=1_software_4__11

Hello. For my part, I just repaired Steam in Control Panel --> uninstall program and you have a repair tab. My game is for Saints Row the Third.

I right-clicked, saw "Troubleshoot compatibility," tried it but it didn't work, so I deduced that it must be bugging with another program and that there was nothing I could do. Then I uninstalled Steam and just installed it on my data drive, which was empty.
