Uninstall Foxit Reader

Hello,
I would like to uninstall Foxit Reader in order to replace it with Adobe Acrobat Reader. However, it does not appear in the "Add/Remove Programs" list in the control panel nor in Ccleaner's list. How can I proceed?
Just to know:
- Windows XP SP3
- Foxit Reader was already installed when I "inherited" the PC.
- Since it cannot read certain .pdf files, which can otherwise be read on another PC with Acrobat, I tried to install the latter without uninstalling Foxit Reader, but the readings do not work (there seems to be a conflict). Therefore, I will only be able to install Acrobat after uninstalling Foxit Reader.
Thank you in advance.

Hello,
search for it in C:\Program Files
or if you have a shortcut icon in Start or on your desktop, right-click >> open file location and in the folder you will surely find uninstall. Let me know if it's good.
Best regards.

Hi,

Foxit Reader is an extension (Add-on) for Firefox... So it's located in the Add-ons and not in "Add or Remove Programs"...

You can delete it by going to Tools > Add-ons and in the list, remove Foxit Reader. I think it might be in the "plugins"... rather than as an extension.

But if you want your PDF documents to open with Acrobat Reader by default, without uninstalling Foxit Reader, you just need to specify that.

Tools > Options > "Applications" tab and you select, click on the "Acrobat Reader" line. Then you have the option in the menu to open all documents with Adobe by default, prompt you beforehand, etc...

Hello Marie_Joe

Sorry, but Foxit Reader is not a Firefox browser extension, but a plugin that automatically installs in it when you install Foxit Reader and disappears when you perform a complete uninstallation of Foxit Reader.
Best regards

Hi jmarion3,

Yes, I wrote afterward that it is rather in the plugins...

I thought it was an extension.

But anyway, by specifying in the "Applications" to open Acrobat for PDF documents, he could have kept both.

To remove it, it's a program as you said, and you probably need to remove the plugin in Firefox as well... to open his documents online with Adobe...

Best regards :)

Hello;

By default, Foxit Reader is installed in the Foxit Software program at c:/program files >> If it's not visible, try uninstalling it with Revo Uninstaller, which should easily recognize Foxit Reader if it is indeed installed on your machine.

Thank you very much to everyone.

Etienne, I couldn't find Foxit Reader in "Start" either, and now I know why: Foxit Reader is "integrated" into Firefox.

Marie_Joe and jmarion3, I also didn't find it among the Firefox plugins...

So I decided (i) to update Firefox, which I had been putting off for several days (still no Foxit Reader among the plugins) and (ii) to reinstall Acrobat. Ultimately, after associating pdf with Acrobat, all my .pdf files now open with Acrobat.

Thanks again for your informative replies.

Hello;
This means to say or write that Foxit Reader had indeed been uninstalled before you became the owner of this machine
So everything is fine now >> Issue resolved
Best regards

For Windows 8, you need to go to Start - Default Programs and then find the program that ends with .pdf and click on it to replace it with Adobe Acrobat.
