    Hello
the .mdf extension refers to at least five formats, including two for music
MDF MusicDiskFactory - music configuration § musical module
Could you indicate the beginning of the file content (by opening it with Notepad for example)? If it is old, try Modplug Player

    Hello Jmwurth.
Thank you very much for your interest in my request, unfortunately
the software you suggested refuses to convert my MDF files
to other formats, it may be very old perhaps? If by any chance you
know the name of another program that would allow me to try my luck again, I would be delighted.
    Best regards, bab1340golf

Hello, I recognize this format. It might be an audio CD image!
For Bab1340golf, could you open the file with Notepad and indicate the beginning of the file? If this beginning is binary, open the file with Hexaviewer and choose the display in decimal mode. If you don't mind, also provide the file date
Another software? Winamp, but it's not very old otherwise there are MS-DOS software.

Hello, and thank you again Jmwurth.
Do you think WordPad can replace Notepad?
I think it would be better if I explained my problem in detail:
I would simply like to extract the audio from an audio and video CD, whose files are in MDF format, to transfer it to my MP4 or MP3, so I can enjoy listening to Japanese lessons in my leisure time. I don't think I'm infringing on copyright laws, since the CD containing the courses belongs to me (having purchased it), and the use of its audio part, if I manage to extract and transfer it, will only be for personal purposes and not disclosed. I admit that I made attempts with the Factory software, but the result is disastrous, only an incomprehensible cacophony.
So full of hope, I am waiting for your knowledge.
    Best regards.

    Hello Jmwurth.
Thank you once again: I will therefore try with Izard and see if I can
bring my wish to fruition; I won’t fail to notify you of the failure or success...
I admit that the latter outcome would satisfy me more.
    Best regards
