Slow CD/DVD drive

Solved

Hello,

I have a computer with Windows XP. For some time now, my CD/DVD drive has been very slow. I don't have any other speed issues with the computer, but when I use this device, the computer slows down. I can't play music directly; it stutters. Once extracted, I can listen to it without any problem.

Even the Windows sounds are slow when the CD drive is in use.

I can no longer burn with the drive either...

Is there anyone who has an idea of what's going on...

The burner is: TSSTcorp DVDRW TS-H552L

Thanks for your help...

Hello
With a lot of delay, but I just encountered this problem after a major crash.

Flo88's solution worked for me too, thanks Flo88 for your insight.

Regarding the slowdown of the DVD burner, crackling and slow playback of a DVD with WMP or VLC, but not with PowerDVD.

The answer is here. https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/affich-2140330-temps-de-gravure-trop-long.

Uninstall the one that is in PIO mode (for me it was the secondary channel) and restart the PC.
I even uninstalled all primary and secondary channels except for one that cannot be uninstalled, and everything reinstalled correctly upon restarting the PC, and no more DVD playback issues with WMP or VLC and without installing any codecs.

So thanks again to Flo88. Expert in the field.

My problem is solved.

I found the solution to my problem by looking at the issues that others have encountered.

Thanks to flo88 for the information he provided in this conversation.

Hi Guyguyguy,

I might have the same problem as you, but you don't say exactly how you solved it.
I have a combo CD reader/writer, a Toshiba SD-R2102 DVD reader (on a Toshiba Satellite laptop) and recently, I've been hearing a gradual slowdown during audio CD playback accompanied by strange noises (like vinyl crackling) from the speakers, and sometimes even skips as if the CD were scratched (but it isn't).
If you have any advice to give me, it would be welcome.

I just read your issues and I have the same ones. How did you get through it?
The sound is slowed down, there are crackles like on vinyls.
Thank you.
