steam_api.dll not found

Question

Hello, I can't launch a game because I'm missing steam_api.dll, but the problem is that I can't find a compatible .dll file for my version of Windows, which happens to be Windows 7 64-bit. So if anyone knows of a site where I can download this .dll file for my version of Windows, it would be kind of you to let me know.

Normally the game comes with this .dll file and it's the same (steam_api.dll) for each one.  Try this one http://www.search-dll.com/dll-files/download/steam_api.dll.html

I downloaded it, placed it in System32, then in the start menu I typed regsvr32 steam_api.dll and again I receive the same message: The module "steam_api.dll" may not be compatible with the version of Windows you are running. Check that the module is compatible with an x86 (32-bit) or x64 (64-bit) version of regsvr32.exe. :/

this dll does not go in system32 but simply in the game's directory

you save it there and then you launch the game

if that doesn't work reinstall the game or do

right-click on the game (in your library) / properties / local files
and click on verify integrity ...

Now it says: The entry point of the SteamRemoteStorage procedure could not be found in the dynamic link library steam_api.dll. ???

Is Steam installed on your computer?  Is the game a legal copy?  What is the game ... ?

So yes, Steam is installed on my computer, I don't know if it's a legal or illegal copy, well I downloaded it so I think it's illegal :-$ and it's Fallout New Vegas.

... if you have downloaded it and haven't paid for it, then it's illegal  the solution for you now is google or to buy a copy of the game  thank you for your honesty

Hello,
I have a legal version of the game and I am encountering the same problem. The CD is at home, I am at my parents' place...
I was able to download the file that I pasted under the Civ V directory (the same as the directory where the launcher is located).
I get an error message there, but the launcher crashes...
