My PC switches to power saving mode.

Question

Hello,

my Athlon processor 3500+ PC goes into "power-saving mode" before WINDOWS XP has fully started.
I have changed the monitor and the cable, and the problem persists.
If I start in "safe mode with networking," the PC does not go into "power-saving mode."
What should I do to work normally?

Thank you for the response.
I should point out that it's a desktop PC, so there's no battery issue.
For now, I'm working in "safe mode with networking." Too bad about the display.
I don't know if it's a coincidence, but the problem started after unplugging the monitor cable while the PC was running...

Hello mariela6,  You should fix this problem in the Control Panel > Power Options.  After that, it should be pretty easy to figure out. It’s not the screen or the cable that’s faulty.

I have already changed the "power options" and asked it to "never" go into power-saving mode... it goes into it when I start normally. I don't go into it when I start "in safe mode." Why?  Thank you

The best solution to ensure that the problem is software-related would be to reformat... but I find it strange to have to go that far!
