SMS and unvalidated acknowledgment urgent

Hello,
I don't understand, I sent two texts yesterday and I didn't receive the delivery receipt like I did this morning for another phone number. Can someone explain to me why and how this works?
I think it's because the person has their phone turned off, but is that true?

Indeed, you only receive a delivery receipt when the person receives your SMS. If the phone is turned off, they don't receive your SMS, .... so no delivery receipt ^^

Yes, but I chose a validity of 1 hour for the SMS, so what does that mean?

I just sent a text to someone who had turned off their phone. I did it at 1 PM, and at 2 PM, I received the acknowledgment of that SMS
because I set a validity of one hour.

But after that hour has passed, can they read the SMS?

That's my question????

The validity period of a text message is the time that the operator can keep the message if the recipient does not receive it.

So for example, if you send a text message and your recipient does not have their phone on, your operator will keep your text message for 1 hour, and if after an hour it still hasn’t been sent to the recipient => trash!

By default, the period is often 48 hours

48 hours is the default value for your operators (Orange for example).

But you can change it, set it to one hour for example... for personal reasons that I don't know. ^^

the SMS sent yesterday at 4 PM will therefore not be received by the person

Otherwise, if the validity of your SMS is 1 hour and you sent it yesterday at 4 PM, yes, your recipient will not receive it ^^

The person had until 5 PM to turn on their phone and receive it.

Yes, but it's barely because yesterday I had unlimited SMS validity

I switched to SMS validity at 1 PM today; yesterday I was on unlimited validity, do you understand me

Well, in that case, I think the validity of your text from yesterday is the default one (so not the 1 hour)

But otherwise, can't you resend the message to the person? ^^
