Solution pour Freeze/Lag dans CoD Black OPS

Hello,

Hello,

Like many others, I've had problems with my Call of Duty Black Ops multiplayer, such as tiny FPS, 10 seconds lag, total game freeze with a weird clock in the middle, or medals, machine reboot... (and many more!) I've searched like a weasel for solutions online, and now that it works for me, I’m sharing all this so you can also enjoy this well-developed game :D
As for the freezes/crashes in all the matches or even before arriving in one, here's what worked:
Edit (with something other than Notepad, as it's better readable, like Notepad++ without advertising ^^) the file:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty black ops\players\config_mp.cfg (if you have the same problems in single-player, I haven't tried because I haven't had any, edit config.cfg the same way, there's no reason it shouldn't work). Look for the lines:
seta r_multiGpu
seta r_multithreaded_device
The multiGpu variable, I’m not exactly sure what it means, but I changed it from 0 to 1; it’s something to do with integrated graphics card or not, something like that.
The multithread_device variable must be set to 1 if you have a multi-core processor, and to 0 for a single core. (I noticed with my multi-core that the variable was initially set to 0... logically, Call of Duty was running executing exactly the same thing on each of my cores -_-' hence the freezes :D)

As for the lag, many people have talked about it and it worked for me too:
Device Manager => disable everything in the audio controller section (..). It's not cool with no sound, but at least I don't lag a bit and I frag much better ;D

With that, I hope to have helped more than one person who, like me, was pulling their hair out in frustration in front of their PC, yelling at Treyarch, Steam, and company ^^

Toxically yours

Hello everyone. Be warned, you might consider me the messiah if you encounter the infamous PC freeze/crash problem, the only remedy for which is a reboot (or ctrl+alt+delete). I had this issue (despite trying almost all the solutions on the forums) until my path crossed that of a great man, no, a modern hero. This magnificent creature is named "DiNozzoNCIS," and all the credit goes to him. I haven't had any problems since this fix and can finally play that damn game. I'm copying/pasting his message left on jeuxvidéo.com.

THE SOLUTION against Black Ops crashes and freezes.
Please spread the word!

Edit the file with Notepad:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty black ops\players\config_mp.cfg (if you have the same issues in solo, edit config.cfg in the same way).

Look for the lines:
seta r_multiGpu
seta r_multithreaded_device

the multiGpu variable should be changed from 0 to 1 (integrated graphics card or not)

the multithread_device variable should be set to 1 if you have a multi-core processor (2 cores or more), and to 0 for a single core.

Save the text document and launch Black Ops.

And miracle, no more freezes!

There you go, I hope this helps you.
Best, Durobois.

I have a bug on Black Ops 2 (PS3) where my game and my PS3 freeze at random moments, I can't find anything to fix it. :'( Can you help me?
Thank you in advance.

I have game freezes that require me to use Ctrl Alt Delete and also the shooting bug.

To play longer without crashes:

- Disable antivirus/antispyware (malwarebytes blocks some cod7 servers and crashes the game (black screen))

- Update DirectX and your video drivers
- Use TuneUP and activate TURBO mode (it disables services and visual effects of Windows while you play)

For your information, when I don't launch TURBO mode, I crash every 10 to 2 games. With TURBO, hardly any crashes (but still a few...) and occasionally the shooting bug that gets stuck. I still have some crashes but much less.

For your information, I have an I7 920 + 4GB OCZ + ATI 4870.

THE SOLUTION IS TO HAVE A GOOD PC AND THEN NO BUGS!!!!

I succeeded then:
- You need to have TuneUp utilities and a paid software, and in this software, there is a turbo mode you activate
- do a cleanup with Ccleaner which is a free software that you can legally download from 01.net
- do the same as Ccleaner with the also free software called Glary utilities that you can download from 01.net
- And finally the software Piratrax which helps in detecting the tracks!
So I hope I have helped you :)

I don't know why, but for the past few days I've been experiencing the bug where the cursor freezes for 3 to 4 seconds all the time. It's horrible and frustrating.

I noticed that my audio system configuration was too high, I set Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) and adjusted the rest of the sound effects and stuff to my liking, the sound is already better, it bugs less, but it’s still not great... When I try to aim at a guy with the laser, it really looks bad... I tried turning all the sounds off but it didn’t change anything... I'm really depressed about not being able to play my game lol.

Personally, I'm lagging a lot, the game crashes all the time... I looked in the configuration file, without changing anything I have exactly what you have after modification... and it would surprise me very much that this game configuration file is related to your graphics card.
I should note that I have a good processor and an Nvidia 9700M GT graphics card... but nothing works, I might as well go back to playing MW2... it's frustrating... this game is a disgrace.

I just did it, I only had to put 1 instead of 0 on seta r_multithreaded_device. Now I'm going to play and I'll let you know!

A question, what is a "multi-core"?

Pupul

A processor with multiple cores, if you have an Intel Quad Core for example, it means you have 4 cores, an i7 has 7. Basically, to keep it simple, the more cores you have, the more applications you can run at the same time, or the faster you can run one.

Hello and thank you for the tip that resolved my freezing issue; my 4 cores were finally recognized and I can finally play multiplayer.

I don't understand anything about this thing that makes it glitch more, it glitches as soon as I turn on multiplayer or I can play between 5 and 20 minutes max.

Hello everyone. You might see me as the messiah if you encounter freezes and crashes on Black Ops (and the infamous ctrl alt delete). I had this problem until I crossed paths with a great man to whom all the credit goes because he brought me the only solution that worked for me, I name the great "tnicolas2". THE SOLUTION to the crashes and freezes of Black Ops.
I'm not going to copy this on all the problem threads, so please spread the word!

Edit with Notepad the file:
C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\call of duty black ops\players\config_mp.cfg (if you have the same problems in solo, edit config.cfg in the same way).

Search for the lines:
seta r_multiGpu
seta r_multithreaded_device

The multiGpu variable must be changed from 0 to 1 (integrated graphics card or not)

The multithread_device variable should be set to 1 if you have a multi-core processor (2 cores or more), and to 0 for a single core.

Save the text document and launch Black Ops.

And miraculously, no more freezes!

There you go, now you know everything, I hope this helps some of you.
Best, Durobois.

Well, a multi-core processor is a dual-core, quad-core, or even hexa-core.

Thank you for this solution, the freezes can happen to me 3 times in a row, it's annoying! I will try your solution.

hahah an i7 with 7 cores, already processors know in pairs like 2/4/6/8 etc.... and i7 has 4 physical cores as well as logical (so it's an 8-core in other words) so FALSE!!!

Thank you, it works pretty well for the freezes, but after two or three matches, it crashes completely with no response from Call of Duty. When it finally comes back to running, it says connection interrupted, and by the time everything is back, the match is over. Cool!! Any idea??

Hello,

I play CoD Ghosts and recently I've been encountering the same issue in multiplayer, which is freezing and disconnection.

I followed the instructions and changed the seta r_multiGpu variable from 0 to 1.

However, I can't find seta r_multithreaded_device (and I have a multi-core processor, obviously).

Can anyone help me please?
