Daemon Tools crashed my USB drive.

Solved

Hello everyone,

the other day I installed Daemon Tools, and since then, when I plug in my USB drive, the drive no longer shows up. It’s as if the USB drive is no longer recognized, yet I’m told everywhere that the device is working properly, and when I insert the drive, it indeed indicates that the hub is connected. I uninstalled Daemon Tools, but the problem persists.
I have no idea what’s wrong - and even less idea of what to do to fix it.

Thank you in advance.

I think the problem comes from a wrong drive letter assignment (e.g., C:, D:, etc...). The drive has been detected, but no letter has been assigned, so it is no longer visible in the computer. To resolve this, you simply need to go to: Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management, then on the left, click on Disk Management.
A line on the right represents your drive. Just right-click on it, then click on "Change Drive Letter and Paths..." and assign a different drive letter that is not already used by Windows (e.g., Y:), and the drive will reappear in your computer.

It is possible that Daemon Tools is using the letter that was assigned to your physical drive. You can try to

change the number of virtual devices to zero to free up the letter for your

physical drive. I suggest restarting the computer afterwards to ensure that it has been taken into account.

Go to the French site of Daemon Tools: Daemon Tools

I believe there's a tutorial for that.

I found the link: Daemon Tools virtual drive management go to the bottom of the page and you'll see how to change the number of

virtual devices.

Otherwise, the second solution is to change the letter of your physical drive. You need to go to the Start

Menu/Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Disk Management

Click on Disk Management at the bottom left, and you should see your physical drive in the list on the

right. Right-click on it and select "Change Drive Letter..." then click on change again

and choose a letter that is not used by Daemon Tools (like Z) and click OK.

Restart the PC just in case, but it should help you.

Good evening Clément and the whole group

The uninstallation unfortunately does not restore the registry to its original state.

I suggest you restore to the date before the installation.

If I'm not mistaken, it seems advisable to create a restore point before installations. I believe it's precisely for this kind of situation.

Since restore points are automatic (unless deleted), you should find a few :-)

Thank you very much, gienas.
Due to other issues, I had to format my hard drive (I hadn't done it in several years) - and by necessity, the problem was resolved by the reinstallation. But the next time something like this happens to me, I will remember.

Hello everyone! So, I know this topic is a bit old, but I'm experiencing the same issue: daemon tools has crashed my USB ports... and I don't have a previous system restore, so I'm in deep trouble...
But anyway, I needed to format anyway, the problem is that I don't want to lose my data, which I wanted to transfer to another hard drive to put it back once the disk is clean, but I've tried connecting that hard drive via fire-wire, and now the computer is giving me the same trouble as with the USB ports. I opened the case and installed the hard drive alongside the other, but still, it tells me that the device is functioning normally without it appearing anywhere! Honestly, I will remember daemon tools! If anyone has an answer to my problem...

Thank you very much!

Hey, I have a problem with my mouse. Ever since I installed Daemon Tools, it reversed the touch click (laptop) and the right click. I’ve checked everything on the computer, driver files, control panel, computer command book...
I don’t know what to do anymore :'( !

I know that on a normal computer you can choose the functions of the right and left clicks, but here there’s nothing to choose, just options for the pointer :S

Please, does anyone have a solution for me? Or the same problem?

Thanks in advance :)

and a posty hijack wouldn't be bad... at least if the problem persists...

otherwise for the mouse it's in the control panel then mouse
and there you have to uncheck something like it reverses the buttons.

Thank you for the response :)

Well in my panel we can actually exchange but left and right click... Not the touch part.
I'm reminding you that it's a portable computer :S

I don't know what to do anymore... Snif :'(

What is a posty HIjack? Is it for my message or another one?
