Hi everyone :)
So my problem is that I can't connect to any server; every time I try to connect, it says "You are in insecure mode. You must restart before you can connect to secure servers."
Thanks in advance ...
Configuration: Windows Vista / Firefox 3.6.10

Hi, I simply recommend that maybe it will work, open Steam -> right-click on CSS -> "Set Launch Options" -> delete: "-insecure" (but keep "-console").
Bye -
Hello, after contacting the steam team, and after quite a struggle, I managed to get Steam working. Here is the procedure, which I believe fixed the issue:
Hello
Try uninstalling Steam from the control panel add/remove programs and reinstall a new version from https://store.steampowered.com/ at the root of the hard drive: C:\steam.
If you do not want to reinstall all your already installed games, please back up the Steamapps folder to reinstall it later. This file can be found by default at the following location:
C:/program files/steam/steamapps
Let me know if you have any additional questions.
Despite this, if the issue persists, try starting from the beginning (messages between me and the Steam team):
Hello, for some time now, my Counter Strike Source, HL² Deathmatch, and Day of Defeat games have not been working properly. By that, I mean that the server search system, and more specifically the VAC system, is causing me issues:
when attempting to connect to a secure server with the VAC system, an error message appears: "you are in insecure mode. you must restart before you can connect to secure servers"
I have desperately tried to find information, but after googling, I notice I am not the only one with this issue. However, no CONCRETE and REAL alternative has been provided. I also posted help requests on various forums. Only one response, someone THINKING that the problem was due to me possibly having "cheated" and thus being banned by Steam. This is not the case.
After purchasing the pack of 3 games for 35 Euros (I have only played 75 hours with CSS and 0 with the other games), understand my great despair.
Thank you for providing a solution for this inconvenience.

Hello
Please exit Steam and navigate to the following folder (default): c:\program files\steam or c:\program files\valve\steam
Delete all the files located there and keep only Steam.exe and the Steamapps folder
Restart your computer
Let me know if you have any additional questions

Hello.
Your help is not working.
-> I delete all files in my directory (G:\installed\games\steam) except for steam.exe and the Steamapps folder
-> I restart the computer
-> I run the updates upon launching Steam
-> I log in, I launch the game
-> exactly the same issue
So please help me find a solution.

Hello
Please try the following operation:
1. Open Task Manager and end the hl2.exe and Steam.exe processes if they are listed
2. Go to the folder C:\Program Files\Steam
3. Rename the file ClientResgistry.BloB to Clientresgistry_old.blob
4. Restart Steam and load the latest updates
Let me know if the issue persists after this operation

Hello.
Still the same problem.
Do you know where this problem comes from? What did I do for this problem to happen to me? Since I am not alone, why doesn't Steam resolve it with an update?

Hello.
The problem is resolved, thank you :) -
Well, I found the solution to this problem; it comes from an installer that is too old.
Anyway, with the latest updates, the game's folders become incorrect, and the only solution is to delete the steam folder and perform a complete reinstallation of the platform using the latest installer found on the steam website. -

exactly the same problem.
restarting the game/steam/the connection/or the pc is not enough.
do you have any idea? -
For me, nothing is working, so I’m deleting everything and reinstalling everything!! Now I’m waiting!! See you in a few minutes to let you know what's going on;;;;;
