Hello,    Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.5.13 I connected my DSi to the internet and updated it, and I forgot my 4R card insert then I wanted to play but it says: ???? an error occurred, press and hold the power button to turn off the ....  what should I do please thank you

I get this message when I put in a New Super Mario Bros game card bought pre-owned; it has a sticker with the price and says lifetime guarantee. I will go to the store where I bought it to see if they can check on another DSi XL if it’s the same problem...

And also it doesn’t always detect the game

FINALLY, I HAVE THE SOLUTION. It's quite simple to be able to play on your DSi when it is stuck on "an error has occurred.......". All you need to do is find original games available in stores and PAY TO PLAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This update was designed (in my opinion) for downloaded, hacked stuff, etc...
So I think we can't fix this error unless someone finds a solution for the update, but well, it would need (in my opinion) a geek for that u_u

I went to the store with my game card and they replaced it because it no longer had the same user. I took the new one and paid a few dollars.

The lady told me that it happens very rarely for someone to return defective DS games, that must be why they guarantee user ones for life and new ones for 30 days since it's only one person who...

The error problem for others could be that you have pirated games and Nintendo has made a kind of protection like for DVD movies...

I have downloaded games and everything is fine. I bought DSi point cards to get them... you have to add points to our Nintendo account to be able to download them and the downloaded games are linked to our account and supposedly those games can only be on one DSi. If you have another DSi, you probably have to pay to download them again for that DSi.

I've read somewhere that for the Wii you shouldn't update if you have pirated games, it must be the same for DSi. And if you have pirated games and decide to buy a point card to download Nintendo games, do they detect the pirated games you have??? Which could be the error

It's simpler to buy the games, there are some that are not too expensive, new and used.
Or like me, since I can't find games to my taste, I buy DSi point cards.

For me, the error is the game card, but it could also be the pirated games or otherwise the console.

You turn it off, you blow into the casing or you put the disk in after blowing on the disk (it could be a dust problem). If your other games go in and work, then it means that with the update you scratched something inside that blocks the game's reading or your game is ruined, it won't work anymore.  If it doesn't work anymore, sorry for you because games that no longer work are really, really annoying.   See you!

Good evening,  I received exactly the same message, the games are originals, the DS was purchased on Cdiscount, so it's not counterfeit.  Error message since this morning.  I just searched the web, and found nothing concrete.   I removed the battery and nothing new.   I just gave it a quick firm tap, but not violent (to avoid breaking the touchscreen).  The DS was open, of course. Just a quick tap and oh miracle... it's working again.   And it's no joke, it had been driving me crazy for an hour and a half that I almost gave it its baptism of air.   So check if your DS hasn't had a shock, or hasn't fallen.  And try it out to see, it doesn't cost anything, especially be gentle with the touchscreen.

Hello everyone! I just had the same problem as you with my Nintendo DSi XL (bought on Priceminister but new according to the seller). I want to clarify that I haven’t done any updates or connected to the internet to a box or anything. I started to despair until my boyfriend "played" with the camera. The R and L buttons of the camera function worked while the camera icon kept giving me the error message like all the others. He then turned on the DSi camera using the R or L button and accessed the "Nintendo DSi camera" through the touchscreen (I'm not sure if I'm being very clear...) and from there he was able to access the camera application and after going back to the DSi menu and trying the other icons, it worked again. Maybe it was just luck, I don't know, but if it can work for some of you, you never know! Hoping it lasts ^^"  P.S.: I find it outrageous that Nintendo accuses some people of buying counterfeit products when, well, when it's in a big store in principle....  Good luck anyway if it doesn’t work! :s

Hello gentlemen  The problem comes from the DSI's Wi-Fi card (bad internal soldering apparently). You need to open the device and remove the card to which the antenna is connected. There are plenty of videos on YouTube.  Either we buy a new one, around 4 dollars, and wait for it to arrive, or we reheat it and that takes a few minutes. I reheated mine with a hot air station, 15 seconds at 220 degrees on each side, and it works wonderfully again. Otherwise, we can use a heat gun, being careful not to overheat.

Sorry, my comment apparently didn't go through on the site.  I fixed my DSi for €0, in just a few minutes. The message "an error has occurred, press and hold... etc." appears as soon as you start an application or a game, making it impossible to use the console!  The problem comes from the small Wi-Fi card. There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube to disassemble the DS and remove the card (super simple, it can be done in a few minutes, just remove the screws, the card is the metal casing with the white antenna wire connected to it).  Two solutions: - buy a new one, you can find them on eBay for a few euros (€3 I think), but you have to wait several weeks because it comes from China. - repair your Wi-Fi card. Indeed, there must be a defective component that is unsoldered inside. The operation consists of re-soldering everything. I repaired mine by heating it with a hot air station on both sides, at a maximum of 220 degrees for a few seconds. You can also do it with a heat gun, being careful not to overheat.  If the problem comes back after a few days, it's because you didn't heat it enough.  Hoping this helps you.
