How to get rid of "about:blank" and unwanted favorites?
I read on a forum that these annoyances come from visiting porn sites, but that's not the case

    About blank always appeared when opening a new window, but the problem is resolved!!
    On the homepage, you need to open "tools," then "internet options," and in the tab section, you need to click on "settings" and click on "open the homepage rather than a blank page," and there you go, it's done!!!!

    About blank may not be the problem: what bothers me is a bar at the bottom of the screen with "make money," "music," etc.
    As for the unwanted favorites, they are of the online casino style, shopping gifts, and impossible to delete.
    I’ve already had this kind of intruder and had a lot of trouble getting rid of it, but I forgot the solution.
    I read on a forum that this kind of problem occurs when visiting porn sites, but that is not my case.

    To do this, download HijackThis here:

    Unzip it into a designated folder.
    For example C:\hijackthis < Make sure to save it in c: !
    Then launch it and:
    click on "do a system scan and save logfile" (see demo)
    copy and paste the entire log onto the forum VIRUS AND SECURITY

      Very simply, Michel, you download Spybot from 01net.com or télécharger.com (all in French), then install it and just follow the installation process without skipping any steps. Once the software is installed, make sure to update it and run a complete scan. There you go, you're rid of about:blank, and in my opinion, you'll probably see a bunch of other spyware or worms on your computer because with about:blank you’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg, but no issues for Spybot.
      Also, use the permanent Internet protection feature of Spybot to immunize your PC and make sure to update it every week. Normally, you shouldn’t be bothered anymore and you’ll be able to surf peacefully.

      I do indeed have MSN, for protection I have Hitman Pro which includes Ad Aware, several anti-spyware tools, Avast antivirus, and TuneUp Utilities, but nothing is detected

    Hi :)

    About:blank is the default page for IE when it opens. Go to Tools > Internet Options, and there you can set whatever you want as your homepage.

    For favorites, look in the favorites menu to delete whatever you want...

    Hello!

    I had exactly the same problem as you a month ago. I was lost and the instructions given by the forums were super complicated for the poor novice that I am. I finally got rid of that damn virus by replacing my antivirus, which was up to date (Norton), with another one: Kaspersky. Since then, no more problems. See you!

      I downloaded the uninstallation of about:blank (origin msn messenger) from linternaute; at first it had no effect, then I ran the online antivirus from secuser, found nothing at the time, but then everything returned to normal!!!!!!!!!!

    hi,

    While searching, I accidentally found out (through trials) how to delete the untitled page; I first discovered it came from an addition on the homepage: www.google.fr/|about:blank.
    The last part |about:blank corresponds to the untitled page.
    I then tried to delete it in vain; then I did some tests:
    www.google.fr/fr and there "miraculously the untitled page had disappeared.
    Let’s hope it lasts!

    cc me I downloaded isafe then I went to protection then set the default browser to google.com then closed the lock and that's it, finished about and for now it worked for me because I tried everything in a lot of forums and nothing worked except isafe the link https://yet-another-cleaner.en.softonic.com/ by the way when you install it do not accept the search engines. that's it
