windowed desk Solved

Question

Hello, I've started taking all the old computers that were supposed to be "broken" out of the closet to try to fix them. There's one that's giving me trouble, as I've reinstalled Windows XP on it after formatting, and it works very well but the desktop doesn't fill the whole screen; it's surrounded by a large black frame.
If anyone knows the problem, I would appreciate the solution.

Hello, The resolution is set in settings, so right-click on the desktop, properties, settings tab. -- Human beings are at their best when things are at their worst.

Hi,  Right-click on your desktop -> Properties -> Display and adjust the resolution ;)

I thought about it, but "display" doesn't appear in the drop-down menu.....
I've looked in the control panel, but nothing works.
While searching online and on forums, I've heard about a problem with the graphics card that might be dead....

You need to right-click on the Desktop -> Properties, then a window will pop up and after that you click on Display. Finally, I'm not on Windows anymore, so I think that's it.

Thank you for your quick response, yes I understand you luc743, the PC I just repaired I installed Ubuntu on it and my father is still amazed by the system's speed and that there is no need for antivirus...

Yes, but the problem is that in the control panel I can't find my graphics card, so I don't know which driver to install. Knowing that it's an old laptop and that it's a monoblock, if the graphics card is dead, it's impossible to change it without also changing the motherboard.

I tried but the installation didn't complete. I just succeeded! I followed your advice, Luc, and I went to right-click, properties, and there I don't know why I was able to change settings that I couldn't before, and now the desktop takes up the whole screen, somewhat less sharp but I'm not going to complain!
