Yamaha Subwoofer Issue

Hello everyone,

I'm writing to you because I've been struggling for months! About 3 years ago, I bought a Yamaha brand hifi amplifier with a tuner, along with 5 speakers and the subwoofer (Sp-130) that goes with it. Until now, I have enjoyed my home theater. However, I recently moved, and since then, my subwoofer has stopped working; it is powered on (the green light is on), but no sound is coming out.

I then tried changing the cable that connects the amp to the subwoofer – maybe I need a better quality cable? – but to no avail. I also tried plugging in another subwoofer (this time from Sony), but the same result occurred: powered on but no activity related to the amp...

I therefore think it might be the amp itself... even though it has two subwoofer outputs...

Do you have any insights or bits of explanation?

Thank you in advance

Adrien

If you have tried 2 subwoofers on the same amplifier and it does the same thing, and you have tried the subwoofer on another amplifier and it works, then the problem likely lies with your amplifier, which may not have survived the trip, or simply that in the settings, the subwoofer, although connected, may not be electronically activated. Check the speaker settings parameters to see if the subwoofer (typically labeled SW) is activated. If not, activate it.

The green LED simply indicates that it is electrically connected to the mains (or, failing that, to the amplifier), but if there is no sound despite this, it means either the subwoofer's amplifier is no longer outputting anything, or the source itself is no longer sending a signal.
