Hello,
I have a little question that's been bothering me... does anyone know what the magical formula from the movie "Les Visiteurs" means in French:
"Per Horus et per Rha et per solem invictus duceres"?
I'm not sure if I'm writing it correctly or if it actually means anything.
Thank you

Per Horus et per Ra => By Horus and by Ra

Per Solem Invictus => By the Unconquered Sun (Sol Invictus = Roman deity of the 3rd century)
Solem => accusative

Duceres => 2nd person singular of the imperfect subjunctive of duco, is, ere which means to lead/conduct

It reads as follows:
By Horus and by Ra, you would lead by the Unconquered Sun

As for the meaning...

per is always followed by the accusative, however invictus is indeed in the nominative, it doesn't go with solem. Is duceres correct? An imperfect subjunctive is strange in this position. It would rather be: that you may be (led) invincible thanks to Horus, Ra, and the sun.

In addition to that, the first translation (mine :D) makes more sense in light of the film.

"That you have never been defeated." Montmirail wants to go back to the past to change it.

Per Horus et per Ra et per solem, invictus ducere : by Horus, by Ra, and by the sun, be led victorious.

Speak Russian and get lost, and by Solène, shower yourself with Invictus (the perfume).
9 years later, the truth is revealed to you!!
