Hercules dj console mp3 e2 preview

Hello,
I bought the Hercules DJ Console MP3 e2 and was able to install it correctly. The issue comes from the pre-listening; I've already tried all the possibilities in the config tab. The thing is, I don't really see where to plug the headphones into my sound card. I have a 5.1 home theater system connected to my computer in the green, brown, and black ports, so I'm left with the pink port for the microphone, and the gray and blue ports to plug in the headphones (all of this is on the back of my tower). On the front, the green and pink ports are still free. I have no idea how to configure it to be able to use the pre-listening. Do I need to buy an external multichannel sound card? If someone sees where my problem lies, could they please help me?
I'm not a great pro, so please try to simplify the explanations.

Thanks in advance.
Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 7.0 Intel 82801FB ICH6 - High Definition Audio Controller [B-1] Motherboard name Gigabyte GA-8I915PM (2 PCI, 1 PCI-E x1, 1 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR DIMM, Audio, LAN)

Hello, I also have my Hercules MP3 E2, so connect your speakers to the green connector on the back of your PC, then your headphones to the green port on the front of your PC, then in the settings, I have the option for headphones and then speakers, and it works!!! You're welcome!

It's only been 2 months since I got this headset and it was working perfectly as you explained, but now, out of the blue, the headphone jack isn't working anymore! :S
I've checked the settings and everything is normal, but the headphones don't work! :S
Do you have a solution, please!?

I also have a sound card and an external 5.1 setup. I connected the speakers to the front and the headphones to the rear as indicated in the manual, but it's not working. Can you help me, please?!

Hello, I also have a Hercules DJ Control MP ED but I have a laptop. Is it possible to pre-listen? I believe it needs to be connected to an amplifier? I'm not a pro! Please help me! Thank you!

@ jobiful
It works for me now, so you need to buy an external 5.1 sound card "like the Hercules Muse Pocket LT".
You configure Virtual DJ (see manual) and you configure the card. ATTENTION, your headphones count as 2 additional speakers!!!
And there you go, otherwise if you still have issues, let me know and I’ll detail it for you ;)

Thank you, I ordered it. Thank you: Miky Rich

Hello,
I would like to get this Hercules MP3 e2 console, practical for impromptu little indoor parties. But the pre-listening worries me...

On a laptop, is it possible to output sound to the amp via the jack output and connect the headphones for pre-listening to the headphone jack of the PC?
I think so because then it wouldn't just be a simple player, but still...

It's Virtual DJ that comes with it, right?
Tricks430, isn't there an "Audio Setting" section in the software that allows you to configure the inputs/outputs?

Have you tried it with other software, like Traktor for example?

If you could share your experiences, that would be nice of you.

If I can give you some advice, don't get this mixer...
The pre-listening is really a hassle,
because even with the right sound card you'll still need a headset with a very specific impedance.. (<32ohms), otherwise you won't hear anything in the headphones!!!
That's a lot of hassle, I think...
You should rather look for an MK2 mixer, for example...
or any other analog gear!! That's the only real stuff.

On the top right side, there is something to configure the audio "Audio Setting".

Rather agree with Tofke, but if you're really just starting out, it's borderline if you don't even know what a DJ is, lol. So you need this turntable to learn the basics, and later on, obviously buy a better one. And at €90 with certain retailers, you can't go wrong! As for pre-listening and the headphones (well, mine was already at the right impedance, so no need for another purchase there), but if you're on a laptop like me, you'll have to buy one if you don't already have it, of course (around €30 at Fnac for a small one from Hercules, still in 5.1). Hard to set up, but once I realized my mistake, it becomes very simple and is a plus for your mixes and really easy to use. After that, it's up to you to see if you have the means or not—that's your call. So, happy mixing!

You don't need 2 sound cards; you just need to connect your speakers to the green jack on the back of your computer and plug your headphones into the black jack. Then go to the control panel in the bottom right; there should be the sound settings. Go to the settings for your speakers and set them to quadraphonic. When you launch Virtual DJ, go to the settings and choose speakers + headphones, and there will be several options like central output, rear speakers, headphones, etc. Just try a bit of everything, and it should work (I can't remember the exact setup). But for sure, you don't need 2 sound cards. If it's a laptop, you might need to buy an external sound card that costs about 50 euros, and you can set it up the same way as with the desktop. I hope this isn't too vague, but it should work, lol.

Thank you mickka06, your setup works perfectly. What others forgot to mention before sending us to buy an external sound card is that we simply needed to set the speakers to quadraphonic. Thanks, good mixing to everyone. Olivier974

I have another problem; I have the same Hercules console but I can't get it to work at all. It's powered via USB, which is fine, but I can't do anything with it. It seems that Virtual DJ doesn't recognize the console, even though the PC does. Thank you for helping me.

I think you need to download the driver.

I made the connections but I can't find where to set the speakers to quadraphonic for pre-listening. It's been 2 months since I've had DJ Control MP3 and it's frustrating!
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I recently purchased an external sound card, Muse XL Pocket LT3. It's configured as follows:
- output 4 speakers
- speakers connected to front
- headphones connected to rear (due to impedance issue)

Virtual DJ is configured like this:
- input: none
- output: headphones tab: master: front output / headphones: rear output
- sound card: 4.1 card tab: speaker (Muse Pocket LT3)

The problem is that when, for example, I start deck A and the pre-listening is on deck B, I can hear both decks through my speakers and my headphones.

Does anyone have an idea of where I might be going wrong?
Thank you in advance.

You absolutely need 2 sound cards with this console!!!!!
Primary sound card (the PC) and a secondary one, for example via USB. (Like Hercules Muse Pocket)

It's very simple... I had the same issues with pre-listening,
actually, you need a multi-channel sound card, to put it simply, a sound card with multiple audio outputs (at least 2),
you won't be able to pre-listen with headphones using your original sound card, which only has one audio output, the one at the back of your tower, and the one in front is the same in fact...
Hercules offers external sound cards that are very suitable,
the Hercules Muse Pocket for example...

Hello,
I’m creating this to help all the people who have difficulties with the pre-listening on this player that has no headphone output
after a little time fiddling with the options, I finally managed to get the pre-listening in my headphones
first, connect your speakers to the green connector of your sound card and your headphones to the black connector. Realtek will detect that the jacks have been properly connected; right-click on the black connector and check the rear speakers box, then click apply
for Virtual DJ, for example, go to audio settings Input: none
Output: headphones in the tab choose
master/output front headphones rear output
and in sound card set it to 4.1 Realtek should also be set to 4.1 and not stereo
there you go, hello everyone, I hope this helps you.

Hi,
I would like to buy a mixer, but for starters, I already manage the Virtual DJ software, and I would like to find a mixer that allows me to easily pre-listen from a laptop and isn’t too expensive because my budget is quite tight...
Thanks in advance..

Hi everyone,

So here it is, I have a big problem regarding the automix feature of the Hercules mixer. I've had it for a short while and despite their very detailed manual, I couldn't find where the PLAYLIST icon is located as prescribed on page 20 of the user manual. So I can't start a music series with automatic mixing from the first to the last track!! This is really becoming frustrating, and I can't find answers on any forum. If someone could help me...

Thank you all.

You need the complete version or another compatible version to get the playlist. I'm still struggling with connecting my 5.1 and my headphones for previewing.

you absolutely need the right sound card!!!!
quad or 5.1
but also a low impedance headset (<32 ohms), otherwise you won’t hear anything from the headset!
that’s really the major flaw of this board.

I have another issue; I would like to know if there is a shortcut on the table to launch the "sounds" that are in the sample.

Thank you.

Hi! For your samples, there are no shortcuts on your console, but on your PC keyboard "F1, F2, F3 ... etc"
I have the old Hercules with the same Virtual DJ and it works like that...
Hoping to be able to help you.

Thanks to everyone,

I think I'm going to turn to something else... in the meantime, I'll keep dragging around my crate of pancakes.

Thanks again and happy mixing too ;)

Yes, I was saying for a laptop you need a second sound card, for a desktop, a 5.1 card is enough. I bought it with the mixer, the new Hercules sound card Muse XL Pocket LT3, it works perfectly, good mixing everyone.

Hello, I have a problem because I just bought the control but can I add samples or effects from my PC? Thanks to those who will answer me.

This table is quite nice, although it has a few drawbacks.
The advantage of the first edition of this table (the Hercules DJ Control MP3) was the incorporation of a built-in sound card directly into the table, which made setting up the pre-listening easier.

For this table, I've chosen the Muse Pocket combo (a 5.1 external USB sound card from the same brand) and DJ Control MP3 e2.
After some configuration issues due to that cursed pre-listening problem (it was mainly me struggling like an amateur with the faders), the Muse Pocket - table setup is excellent.
One last small piece of advice to counter the impedance problem of the headphones (which works in my case).
I own a Behringer HPS3000 (with an impedance of 64 Ohms), and instead of using the default setup (speakers: front and headphones: rear), I simply reversed the connections (speakers: rear and headphones: front) and adjusted the headphone output level in Virtual DJ, and it works wonderfully ;)

Hi buddy! Can you tell me exactly what I need to do please? I have a laptop, a Hercules DJ Control MP3 e2 controller, and finally the Hercules Muse Pocket LT3 sound card and my Phillips headphones!!

Euh, you have to plug your headset into "rear", your speakers into "front", and your sound card into the USB port. Well, you got that part. And you should configure (where you have all the adjustment tools for sound, network, etc.) your card for 4 speakers or more if you have more, but at least 4 (2 speakers and 2 for the headset). Just set up Virtual DJ correctly, and you’re good to go!

Hello
I also have a Hercules turntable but I can't find the connection to plug in my amp, I'm not really a pro.
Thank you in advance.

You need to plug your headset into the black jack and configure your pre-listening with Virtual DJ.

Hi, just to reassure you, I'm in the same situation as you. So, for hosting parties, it’s not ideal. I’ve tried all possible solutions, the only thing you have left to do is either change the sound card or change the player. That’s what I did; I ordered another one, but it's much more expensive (350€). Too bad for the price, but I need it for the parties because it's not always easy to beatmatch blindly.

Is it possible to connect the turntable to the computer (normal USB) and then connect an amplifier to the green jack, which in turn is connected to the sound system?

tibo67 I don't think that would work. I have a big mixing table between my amp and my computer. Can I normally connect the DJ Control MP3 E2 to my laptop?

Hey, I had this problem too and it was my dad who figured it out.
I had set my card to two speakers when I should have set it to four speakers (two speakers and two headphones), so in total, that's four speakers and now it works perfectly.
