Question

Hello everyone, "it's full of great tips" I have a problem with "faulty hard disk block" ?? Does anyone have a solution or a lead (simple, I'm not a pro) thanks, see you soon

I think that these Windows journal messages should not be taken literally. I believe that if you took them seriously, you might end up changing your computer every day. So think carefully before doing a low-level format or anything else just because these messages appear.
It's important to know that write access on CDs or hard drives is not 100% reliable, regardless of any underlying issues. Just typing on the keyboard while the hard drive is functioning could theoretically cause write access problems!

I think the 'scandisk' method to check the status of your disk is more reliable.

Hello Maxime, thank you for your response, but all I know about my problem is that my computer "freezes" and in the event viewer - error properties - I find: the device \Device\Harddisk 0 \D has a bad block. I managed to space out the frequency of the problem by disabling automatic updates, but it still freezes quite often (the hard drive is running and the CPU is at 2%) flatline. Hello!

I have the same error: The device \Device\Harddisk1\D has a bad block.
Except that it's an external hard drive in an enclosure. The whole thing is new, and I even had the hard drive replaced because of this error, but I still get the same error. The issues detected are that the external hard drive is not recognized when powered on; it has to be turned off and on again to be detected; then sometimes, when copying files to it, it doesn't work, and I lose access to the hard drive altogether...
I've tried formatting, disk scanning, checking... nothing works...

If you have any information or solutions...

Hello, thank you for responding.

But I don't see why it would be the USB ports... Especially since the external hard drive is indeed plug-and-play and the USB 2 works very well.
The external hard drive is detected the 2nd or 3rd time I turn it on (without restarting the PC), then I've noticed that when I eject it (by safely removing the device), normally there are: USB mass storage devices, generic volume, and the brand of the hard drive: Maxtor 6 ... USB Device, and when it is not detected, either there is nothing at all, or there is no "generic volume"; and this happens on any PC...
So I don't think it's a driver issue, and if it comes from the hard drive, why do I have the same problem even though it has been replaced? Could it be the external casing???
