Hello,
please, can you tell me how to seed a torrent?
I am registered on guiks and have recently been blocked for a too low ratio. I am trying to share what I have downloaded again, but it's impossible.
Can someone please guide me through it in great detail? I am rather novice in computer matters.
Thank you in advance

Hi
Go download the small .torrent file that corresponds to the files you want to seed on the site where you want to increase your ratio. Then start the download and click "stop" after a moment. Go to your download folder (the one where your files arrive), copy the names of the files that have just been created if you have changed even just a comma in the ones you want to reseed. Once you are sure that the files have identical names, replace the old files with the new incomplete ones (you need to overwrite the old ones). Return to your torrent software and do something like "Force a re-check." Your movies will then go into seed and you’ll just have to start the exchange (queue them up).
Ciao!

I have the same issue with µtorrent.
I did everything mentioned above, but nothing!
I didn't encounter any problem, but no change has occurred!

I may be "dumb" but I don't understand the system, I am also registered on a peer-to-peer site and I have the same ratio problem...
Basically, if I understood everything
I re-download the files, I copy the name of the new file, I copy the old one into the new one, I delete the old one, and I upload a bit of the new one and then I stop things, I force check each file and then it checks the file when it's done it says stopped... and it doesn't appear in seeding, am I going off track?
Thanks :d

Just for information and to make sure everything is clear in my little head: I conclude from the discussion that if we want to leave downloaded torrents seeding, we shouldn't modify the names of the files or reorganize them in our folders... It's tough to reconcile my music organization and sharing on the internet. Did I get it right?
The method above works perfectly ;) You need to replace the newly created files/folders from the new download (interrupted once the files were created) with the old ones. And finally, force a verification. And voila, it correctly links the file and is seeding again. To be very clear, you make the software believe that it has arrived since your file is now complete.
Thank you Claude Lachance
it worked
just for your information, by clicking on the torrent file it checks the directory and found the sources!
thanks again

I'm super happy!?
I had the same problem as "camicaz". I had already tried to start downloading a .torrent file identical to one I had uploaded (but deleted from qBittorrent) and of course, in the same directory, with the unchanged name and all.
It seemed quite logical to me.
Then I just read "Claude Lachance's" response and thought I would try his system, while not really knowing how I was going to manage with the copy/paste.
But I hadn't counted on the qBittorrent update from earlier... I uploaded the .torrent, and then:
"Checking" in green next to the download bar and then "Seeding".
Isn't that cool? Magical...
The update, 3-2-5, is recent because I restart my PC every day.
It's true that I'm three years late on the last post, that of "lolo", who I imagine must be using another sharing software like uTorrent that already includes this function, but I'm just starting out and if this can help someone using qBittorrent like me for security reasons (EpicScale malware).
Thanks to everyone.
