Track order (iPod shuffle)

Solved

Hello,

I have had an iPod shuffle for about a year and a half, which I use on my PC with iTunes, without any problems. Until now, I had never had an issue organizing the songs on my iPod in alphabetical order (Artist name - Track name), which was perfectly fine for me. However, I got a new computer about two weeks ago, and I transferred my iTunes library onto it, filled the iPod again, etc. I made sure to arrange the titles in alphabetical order - both in the library and in the iPod's playlist. But since then, even though in the playlist (on the iTunes page) the songs appear in the desired order, as soon as I turn on my iPod, the order of the songs is different: they are arranged in the order I added them to the iPod's list. And this is in "normal" mode (I know how the shuffle/non-shuffle button works).

I have searched through iTunes functions to see if I need to check something to have the songs in alphabetical order on the iPod. But I haven't found anything. So, is it due to the latest version of iTunes? Or maybe I forgot to do something to configure the iPod correctly: I can't remember exactly how I did it a year ago.

If someone can help me... thanks in advance (:
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

Hello everyone, I don't know if we've all had the same problem, but I came across this topic while also looking for how to organize my music on the iPod with this new model in the same way as the old one, meaning in the order we want. I went to the music tab on my iPod and noticed that iTunes automatically sorted the tracks by artist. So, Disney songs ended up next to Disturbed, and honestly, it feels weird without any transition T____T

The playlist I was syncing with the iPod was indeed in the desired order, the tracks were synced in the same order, but on the iPod's own playlist (in its music tab), we see that it is sorted by the artist column and we can't click on another column or move the tracks around as we wish.

Finally, by going into the settings of the iPod, I clicked on the "manually manage music" option and since then, I have access to track sorting features like before, and I can move the tracks as I wish, just like in the old days. That's my contribution; I hope this solution helps others!

You need to click on the song and go to GET INFO: then we select INFO and manually write the title of the song, and based on the first letter (A, B,...), it is categorized!

Well, I don't know if this is still relevant for you, but I'm trying anyway in case it interests someone!

-When you connect your iPod, a new cell appears where you can modify the settings of your beloved iPod, and why consider it as a playlist! At the bottom left of the page, under the image, there are the playback mode tabs: Shuffle or Normal, selected normal as in the picture:

    and that should be good!

In any case, I've had this problem since the last iTunes update, the normal button (nor the others, by the way) was grayed out, and it was a joyful mess in my mp3... with this simple clip, everything got reordered!

There you go, I hope this will help you too =D

Sometimes it helps someone to select settings and uncheck the shuffle order. And that's it.

Hello, by right-clicking on the cover and filling in the "info" section
they should be in order, but what's the point of alphabetical order, I don’t get it?
    Titles or albums?

Albums! This way, it groups the tracks by their album. I just bought an album yesterday on iStore and I don't want to sift through 1 gig of music to listen to a specific track...

It's funny because before I had no problem, and I didn't change anything in the settings... At the same time, Apple is coming out with a new Shuffle; I don’t think they need to make their old shuffle crash to make us buy the new one, but still... it's all so questionable...

Precisely, I had already searched, without finding anything. It's never exactly the same problem as mine. So yes, I could redo the entire list, being very careful to add the pieces in the desired order. It would be perfect at the beginning. But that would mean starting a good part of the playlist over every time I subsequently add an extra track - a bit laborious, I think.
Anyway, thank you for responding (:

Hey, I have the same problem as you and I've searched everywhere. I can't find anything... It happened to me after downloading an album.

I don't understand anything. If you find a solution, can you let me know? I'll do the same on my side.

And are you filling everything in "infos"? In presentation, are you on "sorted by artist" position?

All my tracks are purchased on iStore, so they fill in the info themselves. I checked. It’s very complete! As for the info, I can sort my songs by album on iTunes, but in shuffle mode, it doesn’t affect anything... it’s still a mess.

Well, I think it comes from the Apple Store... I've never had this kind of problem, and the rare times it happened to me, it was due to having filled out the information incorrectly; otherwise, no issues...

I had the same problem. After discussing it with a few acquaintances, I found that simply not pushing the iPod's on/off button all the way solved the issue. Setting it in the middle prevents the tracks from playing randomly. (Do keep in mind to perform the other steps mentioned above: "Just in case it helps someone, you need to select settings and uncheck the shuffle order. And that's it."

You need to double-click quickly on the name of the column "artist," "name,"... It all depends on how you want to sort it by name or by artist or by album....

I know it's a bit late XD but I put the title instead of the artist's name and at least I don't have to stress out, I'm terrible in the field of computing XD
