Hello everyone,
I bought today a Sony CMT-HX30 Hi-Fi system. It has a USB port, and I planned to connect my iPod to it to play my music. However, what the salesman kept to himself (even though he knew I intended to connect the iPod...) is that the system is not compatible. So when I connect it via the USB cable, a message appears on the system saying "USB not compatible." I've read on various posts on this forum that a stereo audio cable should be used, but there is no jack to connect this cable, neither on the system nor on the speakers.
The question I was wondering about is the following: is it possible to connect the iPod via a dock, or by another method?
Thank you,
Baptiste

Here is the audio input, "audio in" in English. Size has nothing to do with the quality. You therefore need a 3.5 mm stereo male / 3.5 mm stereo male jack to connect the iPod's headphone output to the "audio in" jack. Phew!

First of all, thank you very much for your research. After many checks, on all faces, there is no audio/stereo jack. However, there is an "Audio In" socket, with a diameter apparently similar to a Jack plug. But won't the quality be considerably reduced?
As for plugging a simple USB key, it works wonderfully.

And well thank you!! I just need to get hold of this cable, and it will be perfect :)

Hello.
I just went for a look at Sony's site:
Your channel would have an audio input. but I couldn't access the manual to verify.
Maybe on the back.
It should be possible to connect your iPod with a cord to the stereo system (stereo jack on the iPod, which side for the unit?)
For the USB, maybe it's only for USB keys. -
and yes Apple has really screwed its little world by wanting to be out of the ordinary; they are compatible with almost nothing other than Apple. I therefore advise you to buy other brands which are more universal, a simple MP3 will work on all channels. THANK YOU APPLE
