Connecting a TV to a mixer

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to "centralize" all my sound sources into a single output (TV, PC, Stereo) so I can send everything to the same speakers. I was considering using a mixing table that would allow me to select my source... I think it won't pose any problems for the "music" sources, but is it possible regarding the TV? Am I going to lose sound quality?

Thanks for your insights!
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 3.0.6

You can retrieve the sound from the TV through a SCART or RCA cables if they are available, and then inject it into an amplifier via a mixing console. Why do you want the sound to be worse? The sound quality will depend on the weakest link in the chain.

Response to Yoan: 3 entries, no need for an iPod dock... I've already found several products that could theoretically meet my request, I just want to confirm that this will work in practice.

response to Buge: I don’t know, for example, will DTS or Dolby Surround signals be properly transmitted through a mixing console that isn’t really made for that (well, I guess... I'm a bit of a novice...)

Anyway, thanks for your quick response, guys!!!! =)

Uh, I'm not sure about that; the mixing board transmits more analog values rather than digital ones. Let's wait for the experts' opinion.

To my knowledge, I don't know of any mixing table that transmits DTS or Dolby Surround. But hey, I don't know everything either, lol. It could be found with some searching. What I can tell you is that I go through my DVD combi recorder/player that transmits my DTS sound, Dolby Surround, and image, along with a Blu-ray player with an auxiliary input.
