Pb apres install MySQL

Salut :)

Je suis deja venue pour mon install de mysql sous slackware 10.0, mais j'ai perdu mon post :s

Bon mon pb :
apres le mysql_db_install (ou qqchose kom ca)
je veux faire ./mysqladmin -u root password 'password'
mais ca me met :
"./mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists!"

J'ai alors fait un locate mysql.sock
et voila se kil me raconte 8-O
"warning: locate: warning: database /var/lib/slocate/slocate.db' is more than 8 days old"

La je comprend vraiment pas ce qu'il veut dire !
Est-ce que qqun peut m'aider svp ?
