Nero 8 Trial Serial Number

I bought a Silvercrest DVD player at Lidl before Christmas. With this device, a DVD Nero8 Essentials was provided with the inscription "not for resale Bundle with Hardware only Nero."

Today, I put the disc in my PC, and the name of the software that appeared was Nero8 Trial. The software asked me to uninstall my old version, which took about 10 minutes, and I had to restart the PC. I followed the instructions, and in the serial number window, I had the following number: (serial number removed). After pressing enter, the following message appeared: "The serial number you have entered has expired. Please enter a different serial number."

I can take a screenshot; I will do that.

What does that mean, that the disc I have is useless? If I had known, I would have left this CD in its case and kept using Nero 7, which was working well. Thank you for your reply.

How is it that the software serial numbers provided with the hardware are not valid?
