Bug in Dead Space

Hello,

I am at the very beginning of Dead Space (Survival horror FPS released in October 2008).

In the room, after taking the first weapon, you have to break a sort of purple lamp to be able to open a door behind which a man is being devoured by a monster.

Once that’s done, I try to go through the door to advance further in the game (there's no other exit, and the indicator shows the right direction: it’s that one).

However, at this moment, HUGE BUG, it’s as if an invisible wall is preventing me from passing. I can’t move forward and can’t go through the door. It’s really annoying. And for me, the game stops here.

Does anyone have a solution or has already encountered this bug?

Thank you

Hi, I just bought this game today and I had the same problem. I did 2 or 3 small searches, and the SOLUTION for me was to enable Vertical Sync. I did this part, I took the elevator, I grabbed my plasma gutter and MAGIC, I opened the door, I killed the alien and I went through the door. After that, I disabled Vertical Sync (Vsync) and I dropped to 200 and up :)

Windows 7 64x
Motherboard: Asus P7P55 Premium
CPU: i7 860 2.8 GHz Overclocked to 3.66 GHz
Graphics Card: Asus Nvidia GTX 295 1792 MB
Memory: 2 X 2 GB RAM
Case: Cooler Master Sniper Storm

Future purchase: Liquid Cooling :)

I know it's not a bug, you need to use a stasis on the door, which will allow you to slow it down, but it will be impossible for you to go through it otherwise. There you go, I hope I've helped you with this problem. See you!

Hi, I have the same problem as Darckiller.. Game bought on Steam, when I reinstall it, I get the same issue! Can't get through that damn door, it's really frustrating! I'm trying to install it again with 12GB to download.. Yay!

But apache-one, what is a stasis? I don't understand, because I'm at the very beginning of the game. I've only run away after the creatures appear, took the elevator, and tried to get through that door...

Thank you for your help.

I'm in the same situation as you... Reinstalling the game didn't solve my problem...

I'm providing more details...
I tested it on another PC and it works there -_-

For the PC where it bugs:

Config:
12gb DDR3 GSkill
GTX 295 1792MB
LG 22" LED screen
i7950
750GB hard drive 7400rpm 32MB cache
2nd HDD 500GB 5400rpm 16MB cache

Software:
I installed the latest drivers for my graphics card (200 series NVIDIA Win7x64)
I have the latest version of Direct X (11)
I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate x64 (original FR)
I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 and 2008 x64
I didn't install EA manager

I really don't see what I could have forgotten that would block a game script...

Danth -> don't listen to apach-one, he smokes cannabis ^^. He's talking to you about another door in the game and stasis is a thing that slows down time... they'll mention it to you a bit later in the game...

Otherwise, Danth could you detail your PC config a bit so maybe we both have a hardware or software compatibility issue...

Yes, it's true, you're right because I had the same problem as you, but by enabling vertical synchronization, I managed to get the game to work thanks to your solution, so thank you.
