Creating a Mumble server on your PC is fine, but only if you have a very good upload bandwidth. Generally, with ADSL, you have 1024, which is 128Ko/s. So with that, you won't host many people.

For 3 euros on http://www.serveurmumble.com, you can have a server with unlimited slots. Or otherwise, starting from 1.2 euros. It's cheap and it'll save you from lag.
