How to write powers?

Hello,

I have a problem; I need to copy a summary, and I don't know how to write exponents
for example: "6 to the power of 9," I write 6... and I don't know how to put the 9 up high.

    it helped me find it on mac

    You do x2
    select the 2
    right-click on the 2
    choose font
    check the superscript box

    and the 2 becomes a small raised exponent
