Microsoft Excel has not been installed for the Solved

Question

Hello,
I had to reinstall my computer due to viruses. I have Windows XP. Now, when I try to open Excel, Word, etc., a message appears saying "Microsoft Excel has not been installed for the current user." I went to the control panel, but I can't find Microsoft Office anymore. However, in the Program Files, Office 10 and 11 exist. A vbe6.dll library was missing, but I managed to reinstall it. How can I recover Excel and everything else? I'm completely lost. Thanks in advance to anyone who takes my problem seriously.

Configuration: Windows XP Internet Explorer 6.0

Hi Rachelly,
First of all, did you run the program as an administrator? It’s possible that Microsoft Office is installed in such a way that only the administrator can use it (hence the "for the current user").
The problem when you reinstall your computer is that the registry (kind of an address book for Windows to find all the software on your computer) gets totally messed up. The best thing to do is to completely reinstall Microsoft Office if you have it on CD, or alternatively, download a free one from the web. Personally, I recommend Open Office (http://fr.openoffice.org/) which is at least as good as Microsoft’s but has a lot fewer installation issues!

Some time ago I had Excel and PowerPoint on my computer. I haven't been able to reinstall them even though I was able to reinstall Word. When I open Word and check the system information, it clearly states that Excel has not been launched. I imagine Excel is in a location I'm unaware of or that I made a mistake during the reinstallation. This is Excel 2002. The first time, a friend did a pretty complicated operation to install Office 10. Unfortunately, I didn't remember it. I installed OpenOffice, but I would still like to have the last word with my machine.
Could someone lend me a hand?
