Hello,

I have a Samsung Tab A model SMT550 that doesn't want to function properly anymore due to the Android system being too old (7.1.1). Do you know if we can download a newer version so that it can run smoothly for a few more years, as it works well apart from this issue? Thank you in advance for your responses.

Hello,

It's the manufacturer who decides in this area.

There are no more updates for this type of tablet, which dates back to 2015; you'll need to invest.

Hello,

You can always search on phonandroid or xda to see if there is something like "root (or ROM) samsung tab A SMT550," but if there is a more recent update than Android 7, that the hardware is compatible, what is exactly the one corresponding to the tablet (model, international version...) otherwise the tablet will become permanently unusable (which won't change much).

Even if the search was fruitful, the manipulations are delicate and, if executed poorly, can also lead to the previous result.

Moreover, even if we found their "happiness," unofficial ROMs only "jump" one version, more rarely two.

Unlike Android 7, Android 8 still works for many applications, but we don't know for how long; we take a step back to eventually leap forward.
