Hello,

Today I received your "howitworks" and I downloaded HDCleaner, I installed it, I launched it but nothing is happening (no visible bar to indicate that it is running).

Did I miss an episode!

Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

You are not alone, but we still don't have the answer.

Check the Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Applications

You might find the reason there.

Re Hello, try a more recent version, this seems to be the publisher's site:

      Hello,

The effects of advertising, devoured raw without any reflection, are devastating.

It only takes a "public information" campaign, this is not the first time, to advocate something that at best is useless and at worst harmful for everyone to dive headfirst into it.

        Hello,

This is not a "Public information" but an article from CCM with a download link:

        https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/11629-hdcleaner/

        It's not the same thing!

Moreover, the article dates back to July 2023. So it is not recent. What was valid a year ago is no longer the case now. (Fabul proposed an update).

Yes fabulous, I downloaded it here: https://kurtzimmermann.com/hdcleanerext_en.html and it works!

You need to make several passes to clean the PC.

      Hello,

No, the writes (passes) wear out SSDs way too much for nothing for an average user.

I just use Wise Disk Cleaner, CCleaner, and ATF-Cleaner (a few old simple programs).

But the scheduled tasks of CCleaner make it less recommendable.

      I block them.

    Hello again,

The CCM links have been corrected.

    I'm marking this as resolved,
