A big thank you to everyone who takes the time to respond to us.
I don't know much about it and I need to buy a laptop. I just read Lidl's offer for a TARGA being sold tomorrow, October 3rd. What do you think?

    It's a bit late to respond but still interesting for those who want to know.

    @ joker730: Personally, my Lidl Targa went back and forth with customer service (earphone output failure because my cable pulled too hard on the jack...) and I have only one thing to say: perfect because they pick up and drop off the package at home. It's easy to talk about a friend who knows people who... LIDL is just a reseller and TARGA is the subcontractor for MSI...
    3 years of warranty means they are confident in their product and they can afford it.

    The configuration is very good, a very good performance/price ratio.

    Hello,

    I bought this laptop yesterday and so far I find it perfect. Admittedly, the aesthetics are not great, but what mostly matters to me is the specs.

    On another note, I bought it for its HDMI output, which is a connection you don't find on laptops in this price range; you usually have to add easily 300 to 500€.

    The TV tuner works wonderfully, except that the small antenna provided is not very sensitive; it’s better to have an amplified one.
    I was surprised by the fluidity and quality of the webcam.

    Connected to my Freebox V5 via Wi-Fi, I haven't had any disconnections; the connection is very stable, and the Wi-Fi reception sensitivity is better than on my iPAQ.

    PS I find Vista a bit heavy to use....but since it won't be tomorrow that we'll be able to completely break free from Microsoft....

      Hello,

      I just bought a portable from Lidl as well, and I would like your confirmation that the TV reception is only for "DTT" and that it is impossible for it to be in analog or through a satellite digital decoder. Moreover, could you tell me what the USB WiFi that comes with it is for?

    Hello, my opinion may sound bad, but too bad. A friend of mine who has a sales and repair shop must have at least

    four of these laptops of the same brand in repair, even though they are all still under warranty! Why? I don't know exactly, but

    besides the fact that there is obviously a problem with the warranty, I just know that two of them no longer recognize their DVD

    drives. For the others, I can inquire, but personally, I wouldn't make that choice, and I'm also talking about the same supplier L.!

    Although the information is not provided in the usual way that allows for a quick understanding, the configuration seems very efficient: good processor and very good graphics card. However, one important piece of information is missing: the amount of RAM.

    Hello, we were asked for reviews on this product, I gave mine, Epango gave his, you can give yours but keep your critiques to yourself, you came across a good supplier, good for you, but I don't think we're neighbors, the place where I am that's how it went as I said, I'm actually about to get the headset on one of them, stick with your opinion, I have mine, the only detail is it's not the same configuration, but it’s the same brand and the same supplier! Reviews are meant to change opinions, but I stick to mine. You talk about "output failure on the headset"!!! Burn something else and we’ll talk about it... To whom it may concern, goodbye! And I almost forgot! Don’t pull too hard on the CD drive support of the optical reader...

    I just want to share my experience with Targa/Lidl's customer service:
    I own a Targa desktop PC bought at Lidl 6 and a half years ago, and the video card failed after 2 years. I called customer service (toll-free number) and they answered on the third ring. An appointment was made for the day after at my home, and a technician arrived with a motherboard and a video card under his arm. In 20 minutes, the video card was replaced, with an added piece of advice: "Sir, connect your microphone to a grounded outlet if you don’t want this to happen again."
    Since then, the microphone runs 24/7; I only turn it off for vacations.
    As I was considering getting a laptop, I inevitably fell for the Traveler 1726 x 2 offered by Lidl.
    So far, it exceeds my expectations, but it's a bit early to provide a full experience report; I'll check back with you in a month to discuss it.

    I don't have this laptop yet, but I ordered it because it was out of stock. This will be my 4th Targa, which I hope to be as satisfied with as the previous ones. I just have a small question for those who already have it: is the webcam equipped with a microphone, or do I need to plug in a separate one into the appropriate jack?

      How do you order a Targa at Lidl?
      Personally, I showed up at the store at 8:45 AM thinking they opened at 9 AM, but since they actually opened at 8:30 AM, they were already sold out and there was no way to "order" one!!!
      I had to have my son, who lives in another region, buy it for me....
      If you have a tip for ordering this type of stuff, at Lidl or elsewhere, I think a lot of people would be interested.

      1) You need to read the manual when you don't know (and even when you do)

      2) chapter 2-8: it says: "press the quick launch button to activate the webcam function.

      3) and for those who might not be able to read (but that's not your case since you're reading me right now :-)), there is a pictogram of a webcam drawn on the button.

      Practice makes perfect, ...... and it is by sawing that Léonard became a saw.

        Regarding my webcam issue, I assure nomwin, I have indeed read the manual! I even pressed the quick launch button!!! And well, there's just a camera icon appearing in the corner of the screen... I suppose that means the webcam is activated because if I press the button again, the same camera icon appears again but crossed out with a red X... However, where should I go to see the result? The manual states below chapter 2-8 that the webcam takes pictures every minute and sends them to a website??? What is that??? For me, a webcam is supposed to be for filming (I remind you that I am a newbie and this is my very first PC...). In my defense, I would say that the manual is really brief.

        Other than that, I am happy with my purchase. I had been comparing different models on the market for a budget of 900 to 1000 € for 2 months. I was going to buy an HP when I saw the LIDL offer and frankly, I didn't dare hope to find a laptop with all this equipment for that price! My sister has a TARGA bought at LIDL 3 or 4 years ago, and she is satisfied with it.

        To my great shame, I had a bug with the laptop after an "emergency" shutdown. It no longer recognized the webcam: "sorry you have no video capture hardware." And then I read the response from nomwin, and I thought to myself "that's too stupid! it can't be that little button!" And then....... miracle! Well, it was! But I won't tell you the shame I felt thinking that I spent half an hour looking for a solution!!

    In principle, it activates by itself in the software that manages it (Skype, MSN....)
    Have you tried?
    If not, there probably exists a pre-installed software that manages it. Since I don't have the laptop yet (it's on order), I can't tell you more for now.

    I also bought this laptop, and I'm satisfied with it. However, I find the manual not very helpful. I agree with the previous opinion! What should I do with the included CDs? I don't quite understand what this paid update is.
    As for the tuner, since I'm using one for the first time, I had to look for it, or if it's mentioned in the guide, then I must be half blind for not having seen it.
    I unpack an antenna with a TV plug. I'm looking for where to connect it and can't find it. The explanation about the connectors is very brief. I do find a connector anyway, and I'm hesitant to push it into the gold connection. I had to force it, and I was afraid of making a mistake.
    Of course, living in the countryside, I couldn't pick up anything. It's okay, I'll try again elsewhere.
    I also assume that the little black square block is the transmitter for the remote control.
    I pity those buying a PC for the first time. They're not really helped in this regard.

    I also agree with the opinion about Vista. It's annoying. With the slightest action, it keeps asking for confirmation. I don't know where to disable this reminder message. I think like many laptop users, I'm going to go back to XP.

    Honestly, I saw this laptop in the catalog and I felt a little pang in my heart because for €1000, I bought a much less good HP for €999
    So let's move on to your problem: is Targa good and is the PC worth it?
    For me, Targa is good, I bought a cordless phone (it's not exactly the same thing but it's the same customer service) and I dropped the phone. There were no cracks but the phone stopped working. So I took my chances and brought it back to customer service and to my surprise...
    One week later, I left with a new phone, without any problem.
    Honestly, the PC is superb for the configuration (it's hard to find a 256 MB dedicated graphics card on a laptop at this price) and with one of the best mobile processors from AMD, a 1.3 MP webcam, 2 GB RAM, and VISTA (even if I prefer Linux), wifi ......
    Result: I say respect for this laptop
    It's true that I saw the picture of the laptop, it's not very pretty design-wise but it's not monstrous either, but that's not the most important thing.
    I'm going to try to return my HP because it's been a week since I got it but I've already installed Windows.........
    I hope they'll take it back

    Hello,

    I also bought this Targa - Traveler 1726 x 2 offered by Lidl.

    Pros:
    The price/performance ratio. So far, I haven't had much time to study everything, but it's clear: great configuration for a laptop.
    I was hesitating with a DELL... Identical configuration, (AMD Turion 64x2 TL58 processor, 2GB memory, 250GB hard drive, NVidia 8600 256MB graphics card, bag, battery - but 15 months warranty), 3-year warranty for the PC & labor, remote control, TNT, 17" 1440x900, Corel software pack, all with a 5% discount) -> still comes to €1600...
    Memory 2GB 667 MHz - Combo DVD burner up to 8.5GB.
    Image quality is great (but like many laptops, the screen needs to be positioned well)
    The remote control works well
    DVD playback quality and image fluidity are impressive
    Sound quality with original speakers - 4 speakers + "subwoofer" quite acceptable, especially when activating the LOUDNESS option of the sound card...
    (I quickly did a test with "The Mummy" for sound, image, DVD, I stayed in front of it for a quarter of an hour...)
    The keyboard is protected against water spills (useful with kids)
    The screen is "glossy" with anti-reflective treatment and it seems to work well.

    Cons:
    Having a Dell at work, the Targa feels a bit more fragile, I think...
    I don't like Vista... I should put XP back on it or maybe a dual boot should be possible.
    The image lacks a bit of contrast for my taste (but I have a 17" IIYAMA and a 19" SAMSUNG desktop to compare...)
    TNT doesn't work at my place (that's not its fault)
    The bag is really minimalist (little storage and doesn't really protect the laptop) compared to a Dell, always.

    That's it for my first impressions of this laptop.
    As for TARGA's service. I have a TARGA 3000XP+ desktop.
    I had a BIOS issue at the very beginning (it ran at 1500MHz) -> free factory return and in 10 days the machine was repaired.
    I had a hard drive problem (probably a virus), the intervention was done under warranty (3 years minus 2 weeks) and within a week, a guy came, replaced the hard drive, reinstalled the applications, and I even managed to recover my data (the latter point because he was nice).

    That's it, so far so good.
