Change the DNS suffix.

Hello, same problem as everyone: slow connection.

The issue is that the DNS suffix specific to the connection is still with Numericable even though I switched to SFR a month ago.

I do ipconfig /renew and ipconfig /release in different orders until I manage to get rid of that damn numericable and I eventually get my connection back, but THE PROBLEM: numericable.fr keeps coming back every time I restart my computer and it's very annoying. Do you know how to permanently remove numericable from my network configuration?

Here is my Windows IP configuration and I am on ethernet:

Host name . . . . . . . . . . : Jenni
Primary DNS suffix . . . . . . :
Node type. . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid

I’m not a technician but I can manage if given the right instructions :)

Thanks in advance for your advice :)

    Hi,
forget about that DNS suffix, it's not the cause of your slowdowns.
But that doesn't stop you from contacting SFR to complain about it, if you can measure them.
There might be a way to force the suffix by configuring the machine name, but it won't change anything for you.

Thank you for your response. In fact, my speed is at its maximum, I have already contacted SFR and they can't do anything, it's a matter of system configuration on my desktop computer. My Wi-Fi on my phone is fine, for example. When I'm able to delete Numericable by using ipconfig /renew, I fully regain my speed. However, the procedure is a hassle to do every day...

        What is this nonsense...
There is no connection between the two.
Unless you have SFR with two internet gateways.
This suffix is provided by the DHCP server of the box, along with the IP address and the gateway.
The only way to avoid it is to switch to a static IP address.

I admit it's strange but I've been with Numericable for 10 years and I feel like this setup is "stuck," there hasn't been any change since the switch to SFR... How do you switch to a static IP? Do you think it's a good option?

No, that is not a good option ...
if you have a connectivity problem, it won't change anything.
it's just if you really don't want to see numericable.fr anymore, by the way, despite SFR, the domain name still exists:

before setting a static IP, you should go into the box's settings and check the limits of the DHCP range at the address: https://192.168.0.1
