Good evening, community :)

I got a Philips TV without a remote control. I already had a universal one, but I used it so long ago that I don't have the guide with the code anymore... So I can't use it!
The TV reacts when I press the remote...
There is no brand, but when I open the battery compartment, it says rc4870.
I took a picture of the TV and the remote control.
The remote can be found for sale, but I can't find a code... It seems the brand is Vestel...
And I wouldn't even know what to do with the remote ^^
I found people saying you have to hold TV, some just for 5 seconds...

Does anyone have any idea?

Try installing a virtual remote on your smartphone; it exists on the Play Store, or for Apple. I managed to get one for my old Philips Ambilight, and I had all the functions except for Ambilight. You need to test several and choose the one that works best, at least the one that functions. However, it depends on the model of the phone you will be using (due to IR mode). I can tell you more if the idea appeals to you. I admit that it's not necessarily practical to unlock the phone, open the app, just to turn on the TV or lower the volume, but it helps in the meantime.

I hadn't thought of that!
So I did some research, installed apps but nothing worked... then I discovered that the phone must be equipped with an infrared port... However, neither my phone nor my friend's is equipped...

Luckily, in a box, I found my old Samsung S4 Mini that is equipped!
And hooray!! It worked!! Well, it doesn't emulate all the buttons, but by playing with the side buttons I was able to navigate the Source menu to go to my HDMI port!!!

Yes, it was a good idea, thanks to @nadellen. However, you still need a smartphone with infrared... in fact, I have an S4-mini... but it's not old...! And even so.
I still think we could select the HDMI through the menu, with the buttons on the side... But well...
Like any journey, the goal is to arrive... the rest matters less or not much.

your remote control does not work with your TV
however, if it at least turns it on and off, that should be enough
because your TV does not have an MPEG 4 tuner (only MPEG 2)
you will need to connect a TNT decoder to it, either via SCART (be sure to choose a decoder that offers this connection) or via HDMI which is even better since you have 2 ports on the TV
you will search for channels using this decoder, as the TV will not receive the current digital signals by itself. and you will use it to change channels, obviously.
otherwise, you can also buy an original remote control for your TV: this is the model, check if you can find it cheaper, but since it's a bit old... it might be difficult

if you have a box and TV via ADSL, no need for a decoder, your TV box, as part of your TV option, will act as the decoder, providing both TNT and all the channels of your package.

Hello, thank you for your response.
The remote control does not turn on the TV; when the buttons are pressed, the TV's LED blinks but that's all.
I am not trying to watch TV with it, only to connect a console via HDMI. However, without the source button on the remote control, that is not possible...

Aren't there any hidden buttons on the left side...? There should at least be Power/Off, Volume, and Channels... There's also a "menu" button that allows you to access the TV menus, and the program +/- and volume +/- buttons allow you to navigate within this menu...

On page 24, it explains how to access the HDMI ports... but you need to have a video signal connected to the port...

In any case, it's not complicated, just try one port and if that doesn't work, go to the other one, there are only two.

Yes, of course, there are the buttons and I already looked to see if I could switch to HDMI with them.
There is indeed the PIP function that allows displaying a mini window of the HDMI device in a corner, but without sound...
I will really need a remote control... I found a lot of codes to test, but I don't know if they are 3 digits or 4 digits... Also, what is the correct procedure? Do I just need to press the TV button once? Hold it while I input the code? Confirm by pressing OK? So many questions are bothering me ^^

If you move your arrow to the PIP, the screen switches to full display with sound...

Entering the code alone is not enough; you need to switch the remote control to coding mode first... I believe it's 003 according to the Canal manual...

But well, the TV manual also explains quite a few things, including switching to HDMI... but you have to follow what it says closely.

The principle of pip is to have a screen overlay... I searched through the settings and read the manual carefully, there are several screen formats: small, medium, large, and double screen.
The large format is in the upper right corner (which can be moved vertically and horizontally) and the double screen splits the TV with the console but still without sound...
I followed the procedure properly, and it still won't switch to full screen with sound...
