Hello, I have a problem with my Action Replay DS that doesn't recognize my recent games even though I've already loaded the codes onto the cartridge. Once it prompts me to insert a game, I insert Castlevania Portrait of Ruin and it doesn't recognize it. The same goes for Final Fantasy III.
The issue can't be with the connectors of the DS Lite because when I insert another "older" game like New Super Mario Bros or Advance Wars, the games are recognized right away.
If anyone can help me, I would be grateful.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH IN ADVANCE!!

Hello,
Sorry to say this but you are not talented, huh -,-
Not knowing how to click on an icon in the shape of a DS to update frankly here...
If you are afraid that your fingers will hit the keyboard or click on an icon, uh...
Then I can't do anything for you -,-
Example: there are no games in the action replay, we can't delete them, so we can't add them back...
You have to add them BACK MANUALLY:
MY CODELIST (right click) > New Game
Name of the game you want to display (ex: Pokémon Diamond (FR))
Game code (ex: FOR POKEMON: ADAF)
Game ID (ex: FOR POKEMON: C23BEAFD)
[Game name] (right click) > Add new cheat
Name of the cheat you want to display (ex: Pokémon generator)
Cheat code (ex: [fake code, don’t use it, huh] 034FF45R ERD456TH ; AER52TTC EJMK083T)
[the ; of the code normally corresponds to an additional line]
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Game from the codelist (hold and drag to the list against this one, the list of games that are on the Action Replay, you know) > Games list.
Is the help clear?!
You’re welcome! -,-

Hello,
Apparently, many people have a problem with the action replay management software.
Here are some tips to help you:
- Start by checking that the action replay driver (found on the small CD included with the AR) is installed. [Windows XP] To do this, take a look at "Control Panel" -> "System" -> "Hardware" -> "Device Manager" and check for the presence of the driver "NDS Action replay" (I'm not sure of the exact name).
- Connect the AR to your computer, turn on your DS, and wait for the AR's intro screen.
- Launch the code manager. If everything goes well, you will see the list of codes located on the AR appear on the left side.
Of course, the AR doesn't have an elephant's memory, far from it. So only load the game codes you need onto it. This should help you avoid some problems. If there's no more space on the AR, remove some codes.
If necessary, you can do a HARD RESET of your AR:
- Hold down the A and B buttons while turning on your DS with the ActionReplay. DO NOT RELEASE!
- When the screen "this product is not licensed" appears, press Start + Select. The screen turns white and your AR resets to zero.
Finally, make sure NOT to leave your emails here, at least if you don't want additional Spam.

Hello, I see that you seem to know a lot about Action Replay for DS. Would you be kind enough to explain to me how to update the Action Replay? I bought it for my son three days ago and after a few moments, the codes disappeared from the AR. It's impossible to update with the update feature. Furthermore, everything is written in English and unfortunately, the provided documentation is not clear at all. Thank you for responding quickly to bring a smile back to my son's face.
MERCI.
Hi everyone!
Could it be a problem with the ID code?
Because when I went on the codejunkies website, I noticed that the ID number for "The Legend of Spyro" on the site doesn't match the number on my game cartridge. In fact, they swapped 2 letters: it's an 8 and not an S (A6SP instead of A68P).
Is there a way to change this number?
Thanks!
PS: I even tried to "create" a new code using the AR software on my PC, but it also gets stuck at the ID number, which is not valid. Can anyone help me? Cheers.

In fact, the AR works like this:
- You launch it, it loads the code database into memory and asks you to insert your game cartridge.
- You insert your game cartridge into the console.
- The cartridge is powered and initialized (if it has the time...)
- The AR software queries the cartridge and retrieves its Game ID.
From there, three possible reactions:
- The Game ID of the cartridge is in the code database, and the AR allows you to choose which codes to use.
- The Game ID is not present in the database. The AR displays "Unknown Game," and the Game ID of the game is shown at the bottom of the screen.
- Finally, the rare case: The cartridge has not had time to initialize, and the AR does not receive its response on time. It does not detect the game.
In this last case, briefly remove the game cartridge (two successive presses are sufficient). I think the cartridge continues to initialize with a bit of residual energy at that moment. Nevertheless, the AR seems to receive a response from the cartridge at that time. This makes it possible to detect the cartridge.
Finally, if you have downloaded the ROM of your game, there is a utility that allows you to find its Game ID:
https://www.uwants.com/attachment.php?aid=2299344&noupdate=yes

Hi and thanks again for your participation ;)
I checked the software on your link and it's VERY interesting. However, I tried your method and I can confirm that unfortunately, it didn't solve my issue with my AR DS. I fall into the rare case where my cartridge is not recognized and the Unknown Game message does not appear.
I don't know if a game in Europe can have 2 different GAME ID's, but if that's the case, I would like to see it to believe it because it was sort of my wild theory at the beginning...
I hope to resolve this issue as soon as possible. I think I just have to return the AR DS and wait for a new model that is more up to date according to them.
Thanks and see you later
Richard

Thank you for your help.
I am in case number 2, the AR shows "Unknown Game" and the Game ID of the game is displayed at the bottom of the screen:
The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
Game ID: A6SP-C6F2E3E6
But as Richard said, there are 2 different GAME IDs.
The one in my AR AND on the codejunkies site differs by one character (my game "S", AR "8"):
The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning
Game ID: A68P-C6F2E3E6
Is it possible that they made a mistake in copying? Or is it intentional?
Is there a solution? If not, how can one learn to create their own codes?
Thanks everyone,
Ingrid.

THIS ISSUE IS RESOLVED!!! (for Spyro)
I changed the GAME ID of the game in the software (I entered the code for my game), and miracle: my game was recognized!!!
However, I did the same operation for "Flushed Away" (=mouse city), but it's not working... maybe because I copied the game folder by dragging it from the US games list to the EU list (since it wasn't in the EU one...).
Any ideas?
Thank you.

Hello,
I had this issue but apparently it's solved.
After resetting the AR, it still wasn't detecting the game.
In despair, I pressed the cartridge several times (as if to take it out and then put it back in). At one point, ff3 was finally recognized.
In short, I think the problem comes from the recognition not being properly "synchronized".
That's it! Enjoy the game!

Thank you for your response. Datel, the publisher of the AR, offered me an exchange for a newer model of the AR DS. I believe this model has not yet been released commercially because it does not appear on their website.
However, in another forum, we suspected the recognition issue to be the cause of this.
Thank you for your response.
Best regards
Richard

I entered some codes on my AR and after that, when I put them in the DS, as soon as I turn it on, there is the security screen and then a white image. When I put DS games, the DS recognizes them right away. I would like to know why AR does this. Thank you for your help.
Without doing it on purpose, my action replay saved, and I removed the cartridge, so now there are no save files left and there are no games on it. If anyone knows how to fix this, please let me know. And if I'm told to insert the ID number for each game, I've already done that, but it doesn't work since there are no save files left.
I wanted to know because I recently bought my AR and I accidentally deleted all the codes without realizing it, and when I go on the computer to re-enter them, it tells me there isn't enough space to enter them even though there are no codes left.

Hello everyone!
I have exactly the same problem! I bought the action replay yesterday, specifically for "the legend of spyro: the beginning" so that my 8-year-old son can progress in the game...
Thank you for your help.
P.S.: Does anyone know any source sites for the codes?

I would like to inform you that my problem is RESOLVED (sorry, I had forgotten my original username):
by reading page 2 of the discussion, you will know why, while learning about the various possibilities of "not recognizing" the game (for me, it was because codejunkies made a typo in the game ID).
good luck to everyone!

re-ps: the codes that I uploaded in the same way for "castlevania: dawn of sorrow" work wonderfully! ;)
Well...
What can I reply if not that the AR comes preloaded with a list of codes and that these can be edited via the software provided on the CD-ROM accompanying the AR.
The management software consists of three lists:
- On the left, the list of codes contained in the AR (if it is connected to your PC.)
- At the top right: The list of freshly downloaded codes (automatically) from the DATEL website.
- At the bottom right: The list of your personal codes. You can add your own codes here.
To load a code onto the AR, a simple drag-and-drop to the left list is enough.
There you go, hoping this helps you.

Hello
I had exactly the same issue as you and I solved the problem thanks to all your advice
First, I updated the codes and the firmware on the Codejunkies website! And then, for FF III to work, there’s only one way
Press the cartridge twice quickly, and oh miracle, it sees it! However, if you selected "save changes," it will ask you to insert the Action Replay and then the game again
Repeat the same manipulation: quickly press the FF 3 cartridge twice, and that's it!!
Anyway, if your characters have 9999/9999, it means it's good ^^
In any case, I confirm that the code from the Codejunkies site works on the vF and that you have to fiddle around to launch the game!!
Try it with the other games, it should work
Don't forget to update your codes!! And update to the new firmware version (where you can manually enter your codes)
HAVE FUN ^^

Hello everyone, I have a problem with the AR:
The PC software does not recognize my DS even though everything is properly connected and I've put my DS in "update" mode
In the "Nintendo DS" section, nothing appears except for circles that blink one after the other in green, yellow, blue, red
Please help me!!
And if the cable is broken, are there individual Action Replay cables for sale?
Thanks to those who can reply. If needed, my MSN address is: didie141293@msn.com

Hello,
So here it is, after spending quite some time reading various posts on Google that could address my issue, I turn to you since I can't find any information that might resolve it.
I just want to specify that I have the complete manual for the Action Replay... just in case... but with no results!
On a Nintendo DS Lite, I inserted my Action Replay, and it was working perfectly for several months.
A software update for the AR upgraded the firmware version from 1.22 to 1.54. Advantage: among other things, the ability to manually input codes from the console. So far, everything went well. I start the DS, enter the menu, input a code, and I realize I'm missing a "button," an "icon" to confirm before returning to the game. I restart the DS and... Blank screen... nothing more ;( !!!
I insert a game, it is recognized and causes no problem.
I put the AR back in and still get a blank screen.
I tried the method of pressing A & B at the DS startup, then Start & Select when the Nintendo logo appears > Nothing.
Several attempts at a "Reset" by holding the buttons down longer up to 10 seconds, but still nothing.
Question: Is there a reliable way to actually reset the AR?
Or of course, any means to remedy this issue.
P.S.: Since the AR software no longer recognizes (of course) the AR when it is connected via USB.
I tried randomly reinstalling the original software version, but it doesn't recognize the AR either.
I still have this blank screen...;( !
So if anyone has an idea, I would be very grateful.
As a moderator on some forums, I honestly believe in the mutual aid that this site allows...;)!

Hello, my problem is simple: I bought the Action Replay 6 months ago, but after 4 days the console no longer recognized it, so I don't know what to do. Does anyone have an idea? That would be cool, thanks.
To respond to your discussion: Some codes are not accepted by the games... And if you want to reset your action replay, it's very simple but a bit of a finger gymnastics...
re,
please note that we have a special version of ff3 translated into French in France and Belgium, maybe that’s why the original codes and the -AR do not recognize the game,
you probably need the master code of the said cartridge? which must be different from the English ff3?

Hi,
could you be a bit clearer? Because it's the game cartridge itself that the Action Replay doesn't recognize.
Thanks for your help.

Yes, it is indeed the cartridge that is not recognized by the AR DS. Unless a solution is proposed to me, I have no choice but to send it back to Datel in England for an exchange, as recently suggested by the company.
All the other old DS games are recognized except for Portrait of Ruin and Final Fantasy III... I’m unable to identify the source of the problem.
Thank you to those who tried to contribute to the discussion...
