Resize objects

Question

Hello,

I am using Illustrator CS6, and I want to modify the size of multiple objects at the same time.

I couldn't find the solution in Illustrator. If I select the objects together, the size change applies to the group and not to the individual objects.

What I want to do is change the size of several identical elements without altering their size individually.

I'm a bit late, but the answer might be useful to others...

You need to select the objects to modify and go to Object>Transform>Transform Each (Alt+Shift+Ctrl+D) (sorry, I'm using it in English, I don't know the exact menu names in French).

Then a window appears with all the settings to apply the transformation to each object individually, rather than in relation to the group.

I don't see what you want to do...  If you select objects and apply a % of deformation, it's normal that it applies to the whole thing...

To change the size of elements in Illustrator CS6, you have several options:

- Select the objects to resize with the black arrow and then resize the group by "pulling" on the corners of the selection box. (To maintain the proportions of your shapes in this context, hold down Shift).

- Select the objects to resize with the black arrow, then manually change the dimensions using the "Transform" palette on the right side of the screen. (Be careful here, Illustrator only changes the maximum dimensions of the selection horizontally and vertically).

- Select the objects to resize in the layers palette one by one by clicking on the small circle to the right of the object's name (the object is selected when a colored square appears next to this small circle), then resize them using one of the options mentioned above.

- For what seems to be your case: Resize one of your elements and duplicate it by holding down Alt, then repeat this action with Ctrl+D (a shortcut that allows you to repeat the last action) as many times as necessary.

Resizing a group of objects while keeping the center of each object is, to my knowledge, impossible in Illustrator. It only resizes a group of objects based on the center of the group of objects.
