[IPHONE3G] I lost the tray to insert my SIM card!

Hello, my father gave me his iPhone, and I accidentally lost the tray that allows me to insert the SIM card. Can I insert my SIM in the slot or do I absolutely need the tray?

    You absolutely need the drawer. Get one, it shouldn't cost you much.
