Hello,
I have a small problem and I'm struggling with cosine and geometry:
M is a point on the surface of the Earth
It is said that its latitude is 30°N to indicate that EÂM=30° (where O is the center of the Earth) and that M is in the northern hemisphere.
All points at latitude 30°N are located on a circle called the 30th parallel.
The radius of the Earth is approximately 6370 km.
1) Calculate the rounded length of the 30th parallel, then of the 60th parallel, in km.
2)a. Establish a formula that gives the length of the parallel for all points at latitude a°.
b. Apply this formula to give the rounded length of the 45th parallel in km.
